Are you seeing that message when you're the one that kills the npc? That's the only time i've seen it when in a party. If it's you and your alts, then just let the bag sit there until it's available for anyone to open it.

But still, is there any logical reason why bags would not respect drop-distribution pt settings? Especially that the items in the bags are not bound. The fact that initially bags can be opened only by a specific member of a pt even if you set drop to free-for-all is just an unnecessary inconvenience,

So while technically not a bug, imho it's worth changing.

Maybe e.g. the first period when only one person can open a bag can be made as short as e.g. 3 seconds? This way the mechanics of bags would not change and RW's effort to change the code would be minimal (probably 1 value of 1 parameter).

I can certainly get behind this one.

I'm usually out in the field with a partner and we're not always that close to one another. It's annoying to have to either wait for the bag itself to go free for all (there usually isn't much time between going public and poofing so if we don't wait on it we're likely to lose it) or to have to run to each other to open them.

I spend more time saying to my partner "Your bag... again." than anything else.

I very much agree with Uure's suggestion. changing the time the bag is Exclusively available to one person from 30s or w/e to (his example of 3s) is probably the most simple fix to this problem.
