We seem to be drifting off course. Focus, please.

Burd has a point.

1.) This is *NOT* Pay To Win.

Pay To Win is when you can purchase items with real money which are BETTER than those available in-game only. We are not asking for this, We are asking for the EXACT SAME ITEMS that are available in-game to be made available in the Item Shop, as a convenience for people who, (like my self), do not have reasonable access to them in-game.

2,) There would still be good reason for end game guilds to run end-game instances.

Running instances would still be the only source of the best armor and weapons. Add to this the chance to get desireable instance stats for "free" (aka no IRL money)
Running instances would still be fun (for those that find them fun)

3.) NO ONE Would be REQUIRED to purchase stats from the item shop.

Those who are currently Free To Play only could remain so. Meanwhile, those who do chose to buy diamonds, and those who buy items from diamond sellers for gold (AKA: pretty much everyone) would see an increase in the availability of stats, allowing them to gear up faster than they otherwise would have been able to.

Stats are not the be all or end all of this game. They are only a small part. The plusing, tiering , ABLs etc. which are already in the item shop are far more important and powerful in the long run. Putting Stats in the item shop or allowing people to choose which ones they want at the npc's will not really have any long term effect or change the balance in PTP or FTP for the game. It would only ease the huge frustration that drives many people to leave the game.
Something has to be done to show people there is some hope of progressing or getting the items and stats that they need and that the game is not rigged to create failure after huge amounts of time have been spent to acquire an item or stat then to find it is useless. Leave the gambling to areas where people know they are just gambling not to every activity in the game. Remember that in every failure or bad draw there is a chance that that is the final straw that will cause the person to leave the game.

If it was implemented, would I use it? Yeah. Most likely Borella and Cerburus too. That's not the problem.

Is it the way to go? No. This model simply is not working for the game.

Would adding full sets of HM gear and weapons to the IS be considered P2W for you? Since you can farm it for free... Anyway, stop arguing the semantics regarding P2W. That's not the point.

WTS my left arm to purcahse a slightly less intellectually challenged community. Also Flame should hit as hard as Snipe and I use Dreamland Crossbow on Mage/Scout. Darn that Shot cooldown.

The entire thing can be resumed with 2 questions:
1. Is it desirable to have easier access to stats?
2. What is the best way to do it.

To answer 1. i think most ppl's answer is yes. Most ppl find it hard to get the stats they need and altough it is possible to live as it is, it would be quite apreciated to have more opportunities to get stats. Shells are 2 days of work to make a pull per toon on average and 1 in 4 pulls results in the stat you are looking for making having only one toon not really viable if you want to gear up farming your stats. It is no issue if you are running gobs on multiple toons everyday, but not everyone can do so. there is also eojs, but without any easily farmable eoj the option is not really worth looking at. On the other side of things the stat is only available through running hm and that is a huge issue, not only do you need to be geared to have access to it, but the drop rate is quite low and you have to roll against the other players on top of that. Also, it is hard to get any stats that isn't from the latest instance since it is unlikely to be run. With the current state of the server and the low amount of late game runs happening stats are a hard thing to come by. Yes you can be viable with bag stats, but imo if bag stats are the go to it shows that something is wrong with the overall stat system. A player should have easy access to 3 type of yellow stats coming for both shell and instance stats and a harder access to the orange stats. that would make 6 yellow stats the baseline and orange statting the optimal gear endgamers can strive for.

To answer 2. I do not think putting stats on the item shop is the solution. It would likely hurt the economy to have gf set the price instead of the market as it is right now and yes it would make the game more pay to win. We already know how hard things are to get if you farm them. Giving players the opportunity to skip it with money is by all mean making the game more pay to win. I would rather use 2-3 different suggestions as I think it would benefit the economy more overall.
a) Make normal mode drop hm stats --- normal= yellow, hm = yellow+ orange+ gear
b) Make mems give hm stats ---- mems are more useless then ever give them value again so ppl have incentive to run
c)Reduce the cost of eoj gear and make eoj drop hm stats.--- eoj cost been constantly going up, but unlike mems they are not easier to get then they were before. bring down the price of eojs to what they used to be (think it was something like 150/200) combined with better stats potential should make them a more attractive option.

What Magio said. Where does it end? You add stats, then you're gonna be asking for HM gear and weapons to be added because "I don't have the time to farm that! I have a job and can't farm for hours for the gear I need!" It's a slippery slope. If you don't have time to play the game don't play the game.

"It took 5 days of minigames on 6 toons to get one str/pa!" -- Easily fixed by allowing you to choose stats from the vendors. Then you still have to actually work for the stat and not just buy your way there.

A slightly less intellectually challenged community... this coming from the person who doesn't know how bow speed works and thinks that flame should do 50M damage. Look in the mirror bud. When your ideas merit complex replies you'll get complex replies.

Being able to choose the stat you want is asking too much and highly unlikely to happen. If anything it will be a gasha with the same stat pool as regular, but at least you aren't restricted by the limit of doing mini games.

This is what causes the whole problem. The concept that farming is free. Farming has a huge cost in time it is work and very hard work at that. Time is far more important to most people than money. People value their time, farming is time that is not spent with the family or playing other games or recovering from a hard day at work. It is also time not spent playing this game but instead being caught in repetitious boring tasks.

Working is something you do at a job not a game. You play a game because you enjoy it. Some people enjoy work; farming running 6 toons for 5 days in games to get a stat is work and a job not play in a game. You may consider it playing a game but far more people consider it working a job and expect to be paid for it. The pay may be a stat but if you don't get that stat (as happens far too often in this game you are cheated out of your hard work) and you end up quitting the game; which is what happening in the game as it has fewer and fewer people play the game. This is because it has become working a job (with a great chance you will be cheated out of your pay) not playing a game.

a) Make normal mode drop hm stats

GameForge Can not do this, only RuneWaker can

b) Make mems give hm stats

GameForge can not do this, only RuneWaker can

c)Reduce the cost of eoj gear and make eoj drop hm stats.

GameForge can not do this, only RuneWaker can

Stats in IS - GameForge CAN do this
the point i'm trying to make is......

Gear and weapons in the IS are not needed, and would remove most of the sustainability from running end game content.

Blue OD gear from questing + good stats will get you in to a high level hardmode (high attack, low crit, average defense)
Pshell gear will make you notably better (average attack, high crit, above average defense)

either of these options (or a mixture of them) will get a person in to end game content to get the gear and weapons, but not without stats. Stats are the key item in all of this. and I know you want to suggest better options, I would like to see those better options implemented too, but IMHO if something is going to get done, it will have to be something that GameForge can do without RuneWaker.

Blue quest gear > Hard Mode Please... I just checked a set of Lv98 quest gear. Zero crit. Not even the set bonus. How is that HM material?
Hard Mode > Defense on gear... unless you're a tank this has like, no meaning.

TBH, every single one of your posts on this thread should be deleted on the grounds of trolling. Whether or not it was intentional.

you must have missed the accessories... also, see that bit that starts with "(high attack, low crit...." ?

I didn't say you'd top the scruit, but it is, perhaps just barely, good enough
true the defense doesn't matter hugely, but it is nice to not die every time a trash mob looks at you sideways

Also, last time I looked, addressing the concerns others had brought up in relation to a topic (p2w, gear, etc) was not trolling.

Except only 1 accessory drops on HM. So yeah, it was safe to assume you mean Helmet, Chest, etc. when you said

baseless assumptions...

Semantics. Whether or not you consider paying to get ahead in the game way faster than if you didn't...

No.
Blue Quest Gear (this includes accessories, neck, ring, and ear) simply keep other ring and ear from previous zone to make a full set.. Context

baseless assumptions...

Based on my own time running end game content and a great deal of time spent with CharPlan. hardly scientific, not baseless.

Might as well.... maybe then they will make enough money to drop the price of plussers and ABLs. I believe free to play games should have items in shop that allow players to progress faster this would do just that.. while items like plussers are pretty much necessary to play the complete game should be ALOT cheaper or able to obtain thru grind that is Not limited to 100 daily tokens a day.
100 people spending $10 is more profit than 5 spending $100.

I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned many times before but I'll throw it out again. If people really want to get into endgame runs fast and cheaply. Play a M/Wl or Wl/M. All you have to do is get elites for the Wl/M and max Warp Charge and for M/WL you need elites and any gear you can get with crit on it, which isn't hard because most of them you can get with mems. Play those and you can experience the hard mode dungeons without having to make the best gear. Keep doing that until you get the stuff you need to play what you want. That's just my suggestion though you don't have to do it, if you don't want.

^ this, m/wl wl/m ez way into endgame runs.

Not to mention it's not actually technically feasible afaik. Since mana stones 1-20 only have one item ID, and it's clean. The stone with a stat on still has the same item ID of the clean stone, it just has a stat on it, so unless gf could implement a system that let it automatically create you a stone with a stat on, it won't work.

Best methods would be giving crafting gear stats again, or taking away useless stats from the stat pull such as wis/ma like does anyone use that or str/def etc, also could make eoj easier or make mems useful for stats but doubt this will happen.

I honestly wouldnt care if stats were in IS but by doing this it would cause GF to control price on stats and take away from ppl running and selling those stats effecting the economy, but it would give a wider range of getting stats more easily i guess.

Change the stat pools such that the good stats drop on Mems, Dreamland, AA, and EOJ's too I guess (Does anyone still do EoJ?). How about, have honor gear only have the one stat like shell gear. Good stats drop on Crafting, that may be too much, but then again they come in pairs with a bag stat so are still expensive to some extent.

It wouldn't be half as much work to create a stat stone with any stats on it as it was to create a new turtle mount that moves slower than walking. But wasting their time on something that no one wants or needs seems to be far more what Gamester is interested in rather than doing something that will help players. Then they wonder why there are fewer and fewer players.

GameForge did not create the turtle mount. RuneWaker did

A clean tier 5 stone and a tier 5 with a single yellow stat would still have the same item id, the one with that stat on it simply has the item id of that stat in it's associated data

and to reiterate - it would be great to:
1.) Remove randomness from stat pulls
2.) Get good stats from EVERY currency
3.) Drop good stats on crafted gear
4.) Remove the complete crap stats from pulls entirely

HOWEVER, GameForge CAN NOT do ANY of those things.

The question as to if they actually can put a clean stone with a stat on it is a valid concern. Any chance we could get a GM/CM/ETC speak to the technical possibility of this?
