your version is different from server

i have downloaded update but it did not work then i MANUALLY downloaded lastest patch from tiggs forum page (have slim client installed) but did not see specific slim client patches so downloaded latest one lists and my game shows latest version but still says its wrong.

Oh and i my morrok and source of pollution quest chains were still broken prior to this patch and i would love to level my main character - shadlice govinda server :) thanks.

I have been having the same issue, I have yet to get back an answer of why this is happening, it started ever since the newest two patch releases.

Im having the same exact problem, it says the game is ready to "start game" after the update was finished then i try logging in the game where a message of "your version is different of the server. please update your version" so idk whats going on, it was working perfectly fine 2 days ago, now its starting to do this.

It's a server crash... definitely not the first =/ just wait for them to fix it and it'll be back.

You may need to manually patch the game. To do this, go here: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=31461

Read Tigsman's directions on how to download the patch(es) you need--in this case, the newest one at the top of the patch list--and where to copy it. Once you've copied the patch file to the main RoM game folder, double-click it to install the patch. Make sure that the game client is closed when you do this.

Just an addendum to Kalvan's post - if you try this and still get the same error.

Sometimes the problem can be related to the patch not installing properly due to permissions on your computer. I had this problem quite often, and found that I needed to run the patch file using whatever administrator mode my OS had. So, after you have manually downloaded the patch file:

* for vista and 7, when you go to run the patch file, right-click its icon and select "Run as Administrator".

* for XP, when you go to run the patch file, right click its icon and select "Run As..."; then select either your user account (if an admin account), or enter the login of an admin account. Now, the important part - there will be a check-box for the option to protect your computer from unauthorised changes. That needs to be UNchecked.

I found that these steps solved my problems every time. So if you do the manual download and installation and you still have the problem, just try re-running the patch file with admin privileges and see if that helps.
Retired from RoM. Sorry Froggy/Runefailure. You've had years to fix this game and you failed on every level. Completely, epically failed. Until you get your poop in a pile and fix this game, I'm gone.
