Which laptop would work?

Hello, I've been playing Runes of Magic on my desktop for awhile now and it all seems great. I am going to be doing some traveling in the near future so I decided to look into purchasing a laptop just to keep up with a few things in game. I don't want to go all out since I won't be using this as my main contraption for gaming, so I was hoping to keep the price under $500 if possible.

So far I've looked into the Acer AS7739Z-4439 17.3-Inch Laptop. The specs for this one are:

17.3" HD+ Widescreen CineCrystal™ LED-backlit Display: (1600 x 900) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor P6200(2.13GHz, 3MB L3 cache)
320GB Hard Drive
4GB DDR3 Memory
Intel® HD Graphics

Another one that seemed interesting was the Toshiba Satellite L775-S7307
Specs:

Intel® Pentium® Processor B950
4GB DDR3 1333MHz memory
320GB HDD (5400rpm)

Hopefully I gave you enough to work with, and any suggestions on these or any other laptop would be much appreciated! Thanks again! :D

Let me reword your topic there for you "Which laptop would work better?".

And, you're not giving us enough information on either to be honest, with this topic I'm linking to newegg for you:

The other one isn't on newegg...

Anyways they're both integrated chipsets, which aren't usually for running games, you could casually play, but you're probably going to lag a bit.

You'd be better picking out from one of these (I judged from the price range):

I'd read into the reviews, and I haven't taken any look at the benchmarks on any of those graphic cards, here's a site you could use to do that:

Just make sure to read up on every one of them, in the end I'd suggest you use a desktop to play RoM, but if you want to use a laptop that's under $500 those are your best bets.

Best laptop...

As always, having a speedy processor and at least 4 Gb of RAM helps RoM to run more efficiently. In the case of a laptop, getting the right video card is critical. Intel is notoriously known for having inferior "on board" graphics. While the Intel graphics chip has improved, I would suggest getting a laptop that has an on board ATI or NVidia graphics chip. Also, be certain that the video card has at least 512 Mb of DEDICATED RAM and not SHARED RAM (the latter will take RAM away from the system). I'd suggest 1 Gb of video RAM for better performance. RAM is very important. If you have to go with shared RAM, I'd be sure the system has at least 6 Gb.

Yeah I agree with both of these replies. :D

If you are a big Intel person, I'm sorry but the integrated Intel graphics chips typically will not run the game well. Laptops with AMD processors will normally have ATI video included.

You NEED to look at the dedicated video RAM. 128 dedicated is the minimum to run this game but mostly won't be enough in an integrated chip. 256 is the recommended and mostly you are gonna see in a laptop under $500 but it is possible to find one with more. Beyond that make sure you have a decent processor and as much RAM as you can shove in there. 4 GB is the minimum recommended, and most laptops should be expandable to 8 GB which can make up a bit for the lack-luster video cards they give you to choose from.

OP,

Trying to get a decent laptop for $500 is going to be tough.

However, Kefkai has posted a lot of stuff from newegg.

There are 3 important things you need to remember though:

1) Get a future-ready laptop that will last you at least 5 years.
2) Dedicated Card is the MOST important thing if you want to play games.
3) Newegg is perfect to satisfying your needs.

You can find a very good future-ready laptop for about 500 - 700$.

I suggest you spend the extra $200 to make sure it's ready to be used for at least 5 - 6 years.
