rom causing computer to crash?

Hi,

soo as of the patch a few days ago(4.0.8) every time i log in, then actually get to the game screen where i can move my character my computer will freeze within a min or two. the only way to get my computer to unfreeze is to restart it. I have tried to reinstall rom 3 times now, i have also reinstalled windows 7 thinking something was corrupt.

Hiya, Upon reviewing your Dxdiag I do not see any immediate reasons why RoM would freeze in the way described.

You do have three display devices however, have you attempted to switch which display device is being used with RoM to see if this resolves the issue? Also, upon reinstalling windows 7 did you attempt to redownload directx and the RoM client?

yes i have reinstalled directx and the rom client. i will try putting rom on a different monitor but idk what that would do.

ive also realized that if i have it in a 800x600 window i can stay ingame longer but i can not play still.

You have 2 video cards, which might confuse both windows and game. From my previous experience, the best option is to disable second video card in BIOS if there is an option. Otherwise, disable it in Windows and test if that fixes the problem.

i dont see how having 2 video cards would cause it but i will try. ive had these card in my computer for the past few months. ive also been playing rom for a month or 2 now with no problem till the lastest patch :(

edit: new video card drivers caused it to just crash then restart on its own....

Actually, I would recommend you just remove the 8600 GFX cards completely. (well remove one of them)

Set one of them as PhysX and do not keep both of them in SLI.

I know for a fact that things like this can cause problems.

Uninstall your video drivers completely and just download the latest ones found on the Nvidia website.

Ow expensive fix to get rom to run.
From my experience though RoM , for some ungodly reason, get confused when you attempt to run it in either SLI or even ATI's crossfire settups. I run crossfire with 2 hd 6750's and have to completely disable crossfire when running RoM. Not sure waht is wrong but a friend has a very nice sli rig and he has to do the same thing: Disable Sli. Dunno if it has something to do with RoM or the way the drivers allocate resources, but this has been a known problem for RoM for some time now.

Well ... it was an assumption ... but I wouldn't understand why he had 3 graphic cards and none of them SLI'd to each other. (It would be pointless)
