Fps issues

Hello I am just troubled why I have large lag spikes and overall low fps
I have exceeded the min requirements by quite a lot and I have very low ping( around 70ms)

I have a dual core processor amd 3800 clocked at over 2ghz
i have a nividia GeForce 8400gs with 755mb vram
i have 2gb ram and are running vista

I am just wondering how I got 40+ fps on wow and I get less than 20 on min gfx

This games designed badly and only utilizes your gfx card to process everything.

First, let's have a dxdiag so we can take a look at your hardware/driver setups. Use the link in my sig below if you're not sure how to do a dxdiag.

Second, your GF 8400GS was a middling-decent video card in its day, but is well behind the curve now. 20FPS in RoM, depending on the area you're in, is pretty normal for that kind and age of video card.

2GB system RAM for Windows Vista is the minimum recommended by Microsoft for that OS. 4GB, if your computer can address it, is preferable.

And ShanksROM is mistaken. The RoM client uses both the CPU and GPU to process and display the game's graphics. That was done so people with lower-end computers would have something resembling reasonable gameplay.

I mean my gpu isnt great but when it can play crysis at min gfx and can play wow at very high fps i am just confused
but ty i am just in confusion wondering if something is causing this lag

Your video driver indicates it's 12 years old, but that's probably not right. I'd certainly start with that. Go up to the nVidia website (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us) and get the proper driver for your OS (32-bit Vista) and GF8000 series card.

Also note that your card has 512MB of video RAM, not 1266MB. Vista will share some of its available free system RAM, 767MB, to be precise.

Your computer will address a total of 4GB system RAM. If you choose to upgrade the RAM, you'll have to buy the appropriate 4GB (2x2GB) kit for it, as a complete replacement for the pair of 1GB modules that are currently installed. Your machine uses 533 MHz PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM, and you should be able to find a 4GB kit either locally, or from an online retailer such as NewEgg or TigerDirect.

Whether you choose to upgrade your computer's RAM or not, I'd recommend shutting down or closing applications that are running in the background--mail reader, web browser, and so on. Vista's "sweet spot" for onboard RAM is 2GB, even with Service Packs 1 and 2 installed--which I see from your dxdiag is not the case. So, there's another recommendation: Run Windows Update and allow it to bring your Vista installation up to date.
