Bad Patch!!

After patching I & several of my guildies have corrupted textures & excessive memory usage warning messages.

In my case, water textures are screwed & some ground textures are displaying as a checkerboard.

When I snoop from Thunderhoof hills to SJF I get an excessive memory usage warning message.

I have updated my video drivers, no improvement.

I am now considering manually re-patching. Any idea which patch is the problem child? If no clue I will try manually re-patching all the chapter 5 patches.

I have the same problem +some.

Manually re-patching has not helped. I'm downloading the slim client now.

I did see water texture problems myself after leaving the new Dwarf starter zone for Logar/Howling Mountains. And this was with having water reflection and refraction already disabled (speeds up framerates for me). I have not yet seen ground textures with the checkerboard problem, but they may well be there, or showing up in zones other than HM.

If you try manually repatching, you shouldn't need the first big (1.3GB) patch file. However, if repatching doesn't fix the issue for you, you may have to do a full reinstall. Back up your \Interface\Addons folder before reinstalling, just to make sure.

I am getting the same error since the last patch, and using the slim client. I have 8GB RAM. Is this not enough?

What should we do?

I don't think "reinstalling" is going to fix this since so many people are getting the same error. Will this damage my computer? And how do we officially report the error?

Manually re-patching did not work. I still had the same broken textures.

I did a clean install & repatched. All broken textures are now fixed. I still see the memory message but less often.

I believe the memory message to be a new >Feature< of the game, far easier to add a memory meassage than it is to fix the games poor memory management so of course the dev's went with the message instead of the fix.

Grays buddy, I see you later when I get home, I have water texture problem which does not really bother me at this point. So I skip the repatching for now and wait for next maintainance. I know I am so gonna screw up and end up unable to play totally. Lol.( there will be a patch to fix this right?)

No, it won't hurt your computer. It is, I believe, an advisory that logging out and restarting the client may avoid a crash while you're doing something else in the game.
