Texture/chat blurry.

Okay, so I downloaded RoM and I changed my settings to max, my resolution to highest. My computer is way over the required settings. I have 4 GB of ram, etc etc. Well, when I put my settings on max, they don't change. I restarted like 30 times, still nothing. The game looks horrible and the settings/chat are really almost unreadable due to the terrible quality. My friend doesn't have this problem and we installed the game at the same time, his game looks perfect, HD, readable, everything... Back when I played a few years ago, this wasn't a problem. The problem is my settings won't change, to low to max. The chat is extremely blurry. I'll provide a few screenshots:

What is the maximum resolution of your monitor?

If you run the game in other resolutions, your monitor's automatic scaling might be causing everything to become blurry. Or it could be turned off?

Usually, this setting can be changed within your Display Properties.

My monitor's at 1440 x 900 (Max for my monitor) and the game's at 1440 x 900 (Max for my monitor)
I don't think that's the problem, both resolutions are the same :(

Blurry text is pretty much always an antialiasing issue with ATI cards. Switch that off (if you can find the option in catalyst) and your problems will float away in a painless dream of electric sheep.

This may be the problem, I do have an ATI Radeon card. How do you do this exactly? :P If posisble, could you tell me step by step.

I cna't really as everytime I have looked the best I have seen is set to 2x AA. You want to open up Catalyst - then go to 3D options, then AA (antialiasing) or some such, and select either off or application settings.

Hmm. I may even be unlazy enough to look on my own PC. One sec, please. (OK just pretend this is realtime, m'kay? Doesn't make any sense otherwise.)

*A few moments later*

OK, CCC absolutely refuses to open. Stupid PC. I guess that is what I get for calling it 'Eccentric' :)

If changing the anti-aliasing setting doesn't work, you can try changing mip mapping 1 bar above the minimum. I change the Mip mapping setting to the lowest to try reduce FPS lag in instances and my text looks like yours.

Where's the "mip map" settings?
@ Trying the AA settings now, they're off.

The AA off settings doesn't work. How do you find/change your mip mapping settings? I can't find it.

There's a setting in the ati control panel to turn off the catalyst AI, that will help.
I always set everything to application controlled and have very good graphics.
Leaving it on makes textures blurry, players and some mobs have ghostly outlines, and trees that are nearly transparent

I did some experimenting with other games, and decided to uninstall ccc completely, the only thing I miss is the hot key to adjust brightness when night falls in the game

And you have (had) the same problem I did?

I've seen this problem on a friends computer running an ATI card & fixed it by updating Catalyst Control Centre with the complete update (the one containing the .net framework updates). I believe the problem has something to do with CCC not having the full dotnet update or possibly a borked dotnet install.

EDIT:
Aristatic

Thank you! Making my Mip mapping to 'quality' fixed it! Awesome. Thanks man!
