Diamonds are definitely NOT a girls best friend

New member... technotard...

Now that you have a better understanding of me...

How in the world do I buy them?

I logged into the homepage... clicked on the "recharge diamonds"... got a screen that asked which server I wanted to use them on (Palenque)... and got some sort of a page that looks pretty messed up with no order form for diamons what-so-ever.

So... in small... understandable... no so techo terms... where did I go wrong?

What web browser are you using? And do you have either the Flash or Java plugins installed for it?

I use Opera 12 and have no problems logging into Recharge Diamonds, choosing my server, and seeing the payment options.

I have both the newest Java and Flash and update them everytime they say I need it.

I kinda poked around when I first joined RoM a couple weeks ago and had no problem then, but wanted to feel the game out a little more before I invested any money into it.

Now that I have played a little... well... there's a few things I'd like to get like a cool mount... drillers... breeding slots...

So today when I clicked on the "Recharge Diamonds" button... nothing looked like it did back then and everything was fine til I hit that server button.

I noticed that it told me to log into accoumt management... thought logging on the site should have taken care of that... but I found where the account management thingy was... logged into that... tried again and got the same scrambled screen.

If I need to download something else to order diamonds... maybe they need to put that in their system requirements when folks are looking into what needs to be on a persons computer to be able to play.

So in other words... I have to have Java... and Flash (Adobe)... and this Opera thing? Seriously? What I had was good enough a couple of weeks ago... it isn't good enough now?

Well... if I have to mine rocks... sell weeds and chop trees to get what I need... I suppose leveling my toons is gonna have to take a back burner for a month or so while I do that.

Opera is a web browser, like IE, Firefox, and Chrome. I did notice some issues with IE 9 (Windows 7), and for some reason, Firefox decided to be a pain today and lock up on just about everything. Probably needs a reinstall...

I'm wondering if you are going to the same Recharge Diamonds page I am: http://us.runesofmagic.com/us/recharge-diamonds.html

Yep. That's the same one.

I don't have IE 9 yet. I installed it once... hated it... uninstalled it and don't like the idea of having to have it even though Google and YouTube are always reminding me that soon my old version won't be compatable.

I had my housemate oversee my attempt to see if he could spot me doing anything wrong and he was stumped as well.

What has me confused is that, as I said, up until this last patch... I could get to the diamond page with no problem. Maybe I should have bought them then.

I have noticed that no one else has chimed with suggestions so I seem to be the only one having trouble.

The page I see when hitting that "Next" button after choosing the server is a white page... at the top in red is the URL: http://purchase.gamepay.de/xml/frontend.es_ES.psessionid=4f6e566e36a00f4180d95751be94226a2af0beae/frontend1

Under that also in red labeled "sessionid" : 4f6e566e36a00f4180d95751be94226a2af0beae

Under that are several boxes with that lovely red "X" suggesting a picture that cannot be viewed where I can choose a language...
Under those there is, "Runes of Magic Play Now!" in black then under that underlined links giving me the option to Play... Recharge Diamonds... Home... News Archives...
All of those links are to the extreme left and set up like an index or the outline of a book... kind of like what you get if you have ever had FaceBook glitch on you.

It gives me this each and every time I try to get to the order page.

Perhaps RoM is also unforgiving of my lack of IE 9? Is that the problem?

Note: In my post... I do not see the size and color of the font used for the url and sessionid... I see it in red... your forum is adding the size and color in it's translation of my copy and paste.

You still didn't say what web browser you're using, other than you aren't using IE 9.

I usually get diamonds directly through the website link and not through the in-game Diamond Buying button on the Item Shop interface. I just now tested the latter and no, it doesn't work as it should. It links to the old, and no longer active, Recharge Diamonds URL. So, the link that I provided in my previous message is the one which needs to be used. It can also be found on the main page under the Account tab.

What you described above is exactly what I see when using IE 9, so it may be more of an issue with IE in general instead of specifically with IE 9. GM Nytefall and I have already tested IE 9 and he's reported the issue with it.

If you're using an earlier version of IE (IE 7 or IE 8), I'd recommend downloading and installing a different browser for now and using it until the issues with IE can be examined and corrected. As I said previously, I use the Opera browser and use it almost exclusively. I've also used Firefox, even though my current installation is having some problems. While I do not use Google Chrome, you might also consider trying that browser.

Please let me know if any of this is helpful to you.

Sorry... I use IE 8. Way back when I first got the guts to use a computer I used Netscape (is that even around anymore?). Then IE became the thing to have. I have used that ever since and have gotten pretty used to it's features and layouts. I'm a creature of habit and don't care for change (which is ironic considering how many things have changed in my lifetime). I suppose I take after my mother in that respect. When they started putting milk in plastic jugs and no longer used glass bottles (yes... I remember the milkman making his daily deliveries) she swore those jugs was unsanitary and ranted for a long time about how she hated it.
I suppose I have to conform... like it or not. I tried to use the Diamond thingy in the Item Shop and of course it told me the page couldn't be found. So... if RoM isn't IE friendly, I guess I have to use something else. *Sigh*
Thank you for all your help. I will try your Opera.
I'll let you know how it goes. And thanks again for your help.

Looks a bit different... but what the heck.

By the way...

Is there a reason why my fourth toon has never gotten an Atonement Voucher from her little fairy friend?

My other three get theirs daily, yet she has never gotten one.

Some rabid rabbit jumped her on her first day out on the Elven Isle (and of course my computer chose THAT moment to lag) and she succumbed to her injuries. That's the only difference between her and the others. She has started out life with a debt I can't erase. I suppose I can be extra careful with her til she gets older but I was just curious as to why she never gets her "little gift."

2 things about the Atonement Vouchers:

1. You only get 1 per day from level 11 up to level 30;
2. Your Fairy takes about 2 minutes to figure out she needs to give you one.

I'm glad that you finally got the Recharge Diamonds page to work for you, even though you had to use a different browser. It's also good--or bad--to know that the issues I was having with IE 9 seem to be there for IE 8, too. I'll point this out to our QA person--Roeksha--and have him forward the info up to the webmaster.

If they doubled my salary, I'd make exactly the same amount of money. :D I'm a volunteer, so my salary is zero. But I appreciate the thought and compliment.

What Inferiority said about the Atonement Vouchers is correct. The Newbie Pets are a bit on the slow side. There's not a lot of room for brains inside their tiny little heads. :D

The level 11 part explains a LOT.

You see... Although I fully intend on using her later on, she is the one I jump on when it's nighttime in the game. It's probably these eyes of mine or perhaps my older computer (I have adjusted my monitor to it's brightest settings but it just ain't good enough) I just can't see anywhere else in the dark. So... I use her to do a little gathering while I wait for dawn. I brought both of her classes to only level 10. Looks like she needs to grow just a tad more.

I actually had a person in the game suggest that I adjust the brightness in the game interface... but I just don't see anything in the interface that suggests anything about brightness. No biggie... I'll manage. My other toons appreciate her hard work.

Anyway...

There's just some things Google doesn't explain. I usually go there first and do a few searches before I holler for help. All in all... I really love the game and am pretty darned happy I ran across it. I just wish I had found it sooner. Maybe folks are calling this a clone of WoW but that's like saying General Motors was a clone of Ford. I happen to think this is a HUGE improvement and applaud the developers.

I have had more fun these past couple of weeks here than I did all those months playing WoW.

And it's folks like you helping folks like me (and being so darned quick, patient and understanding about it) that makes it even better than ever.

Thanks to you all for coming to my rescue. You're good people.
