Ignoring a network issue, you're doing *something* wrong. I just took my midget alt ( R/Wl/M, 60/60/59, but in M/Wl setup) out to the WA area. He's far less geared than your W/Wl (27.8K health, T7 Void Staff +12) and i had no problems with the mobs outside and inside the castle (not in the Arena itself, mind you), two-shotting them with FB and Warp Charge, one-shotting with Flame.

If you're having issues in the regular game, where your instant cast skills are taking 2-5 seconds to fire, then you definitely have network issues. As I said previously, there could be regional bottlenecks that can cause your connection to the game servers to take wide detours, or they could be causing data packets to drop. If the connection problem is severe enough, you'd simply lose the connection on a regular basis.

Question: Have you tried resetting your router/residential gateway?

I do have what I believe to be the RoM gateway server IP address: 206.253.173.51

You might try a traceroute (tracert.exe) from your computer to the RoM gateway server and see if you're having timeout issues on the hops on the way there.

Can you try keeping Pingplotter tracert'ing the server?

Just to ensure it isn't server side. A lot of the data running through the east coast servers have been re-routed from what I have read.

Since you are in Canada and Florida (where the server is located) is on the East Coast, it is safe to assume that you might be taking the longer route and getting more packet loss then usual.

in siege does your guild chat lag by a few seconds as well? (or trade or world..something besides /say)

yea i cant see anything other than..well siege being the culprit. you can try for @tts and giggles changing texture filtering to high performance (humor me) but everything points to congestion/nagal's failgorithm etc.

when you get in siege hit a netstat -s -t -p tcp and see if theres a lot of out of order crap and dropped packets. the tracert can show something up to the proxy idk, theres so little data in transit really. modern internet (not the inbred redneck express i have) shouldnt have any trouble unless theres a network configuration making winblows7 act wonky. you can check all the active nics with an elevated netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces but unless you have 27 loopbacks and a Ti-82 in there win7 does fine left alone usually.

i blame siege...shoot it! oh and p/s's

As for your shortstuff, try deleting the character folder for it. Since you're not having any real issues for your main toon, maybe the problem is in your dwarf's folder. Just remember that you'll have to redo its UI.

It also beats the heck out of doing a reinstall that you don't really need to do.

you can always redo the last patch file..just run as admin. nothing bad EVER happens in patching
