Crashing TOO much

I've been crashing very often in the past couple of days, I don't go 10 minutes without crashing and when they occur I am usually doing something very basic like taking a pet out. This is probably on my side, because the frequency of the crashes I have now is more than I've ever had. I've reduced settings and have tried everything, but the crashes persist

:DxDiag:

It has gotten to the point where I cannot play the game. I play for maybe a minute then crash report

I doubt it's on your end, possibly a little but not much. Usually this time of year and through early March, when new patches are implemented they create issues that alot think are new because they haven't had them in a while, if at all. The client isn't coded very well, it's a spaghetti factory of piecemeal code and when that happens, seemingly innocent actions will cause crashing because they conflict with scripts running behind the scenes for the various event triggers. I know it sucks, but try waiting until the next patch, I'm betting your crashing will lessen or even vanish.

Oh I know, I had that issue a while back (few years ago) and actually rage quit over it. Friends talked me into coming back and playing again (after a new patch) and guess what.... no more issues. I know it sucks, but until RW, GF and anyone else who has their hands in this game decides to streamline and clean up the code, it's just going to be the same issues every year.

After looking at your dxdiag, I saw that your video driver is about a year and a half old. I have no idea whether you can get a newer driver directly from nVidia or if you have to go through Sony--it depends on if Sony is using a "custom" video chipset and if they control access to drivers.

You're using a notebook computer. If you're using a wireless connection, try using a wired connection to your router/residential gateway, instead.

My video driver is fine :P, the problem arose recently, but I'll try wired

Sometimes updating a video driver, if possible, can make a world of difference. But using a wired connection is far better than wireless. It's not only faster, but it doesn't suffer from signal weakness that a wireless connection can have. Changing the notebook's location, or moving something else in the room or house/apartment can block or attenuate the wireless signal.

DOS Tip: Do not download and use Gameforge Live. Sorry to say, but it has a number of known issues. And no, I have no idea why it's still up for downloading.

romunited - http://download.frogster-online.com/RoM/…0_2535_slim.exe
I suggest you use that one, not the full/gameforge live ones

If by crashing you mean the game gives you the standard crit error then:
wired or wireless, should not matter. 99.999% if there was a problem with your connection, you would not get an error report, just booted to login

Video Drivers: let's face it, the graphics engine has not changed. I've had support tell me my graphics driver was too old and too new.

The better questions are usually "what were you doing when you crashed?" or "Are you only crashing when you try to go to new content that was just put in place by the patch". If you have a consistent answer for the first, then it is usually add-on related and there is something wrong with savevariables.lua (usually in c:\Users\Name\My Documents\Runes of Magic\) There is a global one and per-character one, find out if the pet issue is on every character or just the one. The second scenario is usually corrupt texture files.

PS. Kalvan: We know why it is still there, they are waiting on the developers to provide them with a fix but it is just a low priority thing ;)
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Probably for the best that you delete the installation files that you have, and redownload. Either use the client download links on our website, or you can use the alternate links that Inferiority provided here: http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=70835

If you decide to use the alternate links, do not use the ones for FileFactory unless you have a premium membership there. Instead, use the Depositfiles links, and obviously, don't mix and match full and slim client files.

Copy your /Addons folder to a safe place, then remove the existing RoM installation. Once that's done, you can reinstall, update the client, then copy your /Addons folder back into the installation.

Oh, and no matter which file source you use, make sure that the Region and Language is set to USA and English before you hit the big Start Game button.

If you use the link to Inferiority's post, download the .bin files from his Depositfiles links.

You're welcome to use the mirror sites that we provide. To the best of my knowledge, they're zipped and contain the same .bin files that the separate Depositefiles links are, but they only have the full client available, whereas Inferiority's Depositfiles links have both the full and slim clients available.

'Tis up to you to decide.

Still experiencing problems :/ don't know what it could be

I'm crashing left and right >> can't do anything in siege or in instances

I've lost 3 siege rewards from crashing....this is getting to be too much, makes you want to quit the game
