Server Lag Issue

I have been getting some bad lag for over a week now, and it's impossible to run siege/instances. My usual ping is around 70ms, but getting from 300 to 3500ms during this period. Is this lag issue isolated or has others experienced a similar frustration?

Just to note that I don't recall we had our weekly server reset last Tuesday, and not sure whether that had any effect on the current status.

I've run into occasional lag spikes over the past few weeks. Normally, my latency is, in most zones, about 65ms. Sometimes it goes up to 72-78ms.

Lag or latency can be caused by a number of factors, but it's basically the client to server to client connection, the quality of your own connection to your ISP, and is then modified by the route the connection needs to take between your own location and the server location. There can be intermittent regional problems that can negatively affect the connection quality. That's why I said I've had occasional latency spikes over the past few weeks, not constant problems.

If you're having constant issues, the first step is to reset your router or residential gateway. If that doesn't do much or any good, then contact your ISP and have their tech department run some remote tests to see if they can detect a good, strong signal to and from your equipment.

Kalvan my ping is at 63ms all the time, i have a 60mbps cable connection, no other gama i play have the lag spike we have here. No console or computer game, NONE. The only problem is client based, not customer and the coding of the game. Stop disabling stuff in the programming and maybe it won't search files that are not there anymore.

Please stop blaming the customers for lag, it's not our problem. Get better servers and connections, then it would be better.

I guess it's easier to blame my ISP for all the lag spikes I'm getting for close to 3 weeks now. Probably nothing to do with merging of both US and AU servers... I've tried everything from my side to correct the lag issue but it's obvious that the source of the problem is not coming from my end... I've confirmed that by playing another MMO game (after logging into RoM to play for 30 minutes of painful lag) where there was absolutely no lag while playing for several hours.

Since RoM is lacking in customer services so losing regular players won't matter to them much, but to note that my RoM playing time is getting less and less. You don't have to be a genius to figure out where that is leading to.

Last couple of SW its either I see someone coming, casting spell or getting candy/cake and next thing I see is me on the floor. (last night) Fun part is if I get cool down on candy/cake or this is happening to opponents. Many times you can't target enemy because in reality enemy is not even there...

Lag is getting into way of game-play again.

Killalot what server do you play? If your an AU player playing Thalia 300ms ping is now the norm.
Yes my rom time is pretty non existent now. Think the missus would rather I be playing rom as I have started looking for other projects to amuse myself with.

Assuming you are playing from within the US. The best method to find out if it is you or the server is by doing a traceroute to the server.

PingPlotter allows you to see that. I tend to use it to check which nodes are slow in my ISP's network (or my ISP's path to connect).

If it isn't the server, it's best to change your ISP and talk to them. (ISP's tend to have compensation plans/fix it rather quickly)
