Download speeds

I am curious why the download speeds are so horrible? Updates take hours instead of minutes. I was having texture issues and you have a post saying here is the manual download of the client. I looked into doing that but if you do not pay the company you can expect 8 hours per file, 10 files long so you are expecting 80 hours of continuous downloads??????
I mean come on I can download a blue-ray disk faster than that. Is this all related to the horrible lag in sieges? Are there plans to get real servers instead of these supposed servers the game is on now?
Sorry for the post but I had a lot of time on my hands waiting on 1 small patch.

I think you just download the 5.0.0 patch or whatever is the latest and start from there. Either you aren't doing that or you've got a slow download speed :P

As Inferiority (or whatever the name of the guy is who made that post) said, you don't need to pay for the service

It does take a awhile, but 5 hours min with a decent connection assuming you start from the latest version much shorter

It was the 5.5 client files, not the patches and I am on 25M cable. Every other MMORPG these type updates take minutes. I had to go from 5.5 (after I let that new client thing get the files)to the 6.0 and it took over 2 hours. But as for their Alt download sites at the 5.5 client link they say "Average download time in regular mode: 437 minutes, in Gold mode - 12 minutes" That is directly from the depositfile link and the other was not any better.
But all in all why would an update take hours instead of minutes? Guildwars 1 or 2 less than 5 minutes for any update, Diablo less than 10 minutes. for a couple examples. I had a couple guild wars 2 once during release take 30 minutes because they had a bottleneck and they fixed iit and all went well. This is the only game that I know of that needs hours to update.

Gameforge do not host the mirror links in the 5.0.5 client thread (see my sig) - Inferiority is uploading the install files as a courtesy for other players. His download thread also contains links to the files directly from their home "Frogster Online" server so you don't need to download from Depositfiles or Filefactory.

I actually re-downloaded the client recently & found the links to download in a reasonable speed from all three hosts.

Once you get the updated version of the game and it updates it will probably take around 10 minutes when a new patch comes out and is barely noticeable, but since your downloading the whole thing it will take awhile

Its just how they decided to set the updates up. really crappy I know, but thats it

I dunno what your exact problem is since Kro got much better results (at least its what he says :p) :/

I'm aware that what I experienced may not necessarily be the same as what others will.
