[Collection Thread] Current Server and Login Problems

Thread layout blatantly stol...ehm...borrowed from Gameadmin/DE Rhakara, props to him ;)


We need a better overview over tech problems.
Therefore please use this thread and report with your servername if you encounter one or more of the following issues on a server:

  • Login not possible, stuck in character loading screen
  • Auction House and/or ingame mail not working
  • Guild membership isn't shown anymore
  • Zones are shown as not available, cannot enter houses
  • massive lag spikes over a longer period of time *outside of siege war*
    please look at post#2 in this thread, because we get the request from IT to collect MTR's on lag reports quite often


Please try relogs/client restarts first, if applicable! Thanks.



Please do not discuss the issues in this thread because that is not its purpose.
The purpose of the thread is for us to get a quicker overview when problems appear that might require restarting the game servers so we get quicker turnarounds on forwarding and solving issues like those mentioned above.

This thread is ONLY to report server problems that may indicate a crashing server. ALL other problems should be posted into their own threads or into already existing threads if other users reported your problem already.

If we report massive lag to IT we sometimes get the request of collecting WinMTR records of the users who report such lag.
If we are going to request MTR information from you because IT requests more detailed information to pinpoint lag / general network problems, please do as stated in this posting.

WinMTR bascically combines ping and traceroute information for all the stations on the way through the internet from you to the server you ping, and also records packet loss on the way.

In our case, the testcase usually would be these US or AU IPs depending on which region you play:
US: 206.253.173.50
AU: 206.253.173.53

Just download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/, unzip the archive and run the .exe file appropriate to your OS (32bit or 64bit OS).

Start WinMTR.
Write the name or IP of the host (see above for our RoM case)
Push the Start button and wait.
Let it run for 2-3 minutes please.
Press "Copy Text to Clipboard" and post it here in this thread.
Please also add the server you are playing on and the time at which you encountered the lag spikes.

We will merge your MTR reports later into this post and probably remove reports from the thread that are no longer needed to keep the thread nice and clean.
Old/solved problems will be removed from this post too, so we'll only keep info about the most current lag issues in this very posting.

Post#3: For the lag issues of Sep 21 - please post MTR's as soon as you encounter lag spikes again that last longer than just a few minutes as we had requests for this by IT already.

Ping bouncing between 94 and 5,098ms. Typically My ping from Chicago is around 40-60ms. Tonight has been horrible and I've gotten kicked to login screen at least a dozen times tonight. This is rediculous.

Understandably I had one packet drop from my router to modem, but a 10% packet loss at border1.po1.bbnet1.mia007.pnap.net is unacceptable and likely where all the major trouble is starting. Sounds like the datacenter needs to be contacted.

Guild was from Indigo.
