Buggy Patch 6.0.3?

I already put in a helpdesk ticket, but wanted to see if anyone has seen this issue...

When I patched this morning, it paused at: Copying other.exe and brought up a Taiwanese version of WinRar.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8zoWgDX0XZ3UmJYZ05UMUloNzg/edit?usp=sharing

When I clicked where [OK] should be for WinRar, the patch seems to finish just fine & it lets me start up the client.

When I try to log in, it says that there is a version mismatch and I need to update the client. My version is 6.0.3.2669.en

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8zoWgDX0XZ3SXJjcXE0MFh1TWM/edit?usp=sharing

Just wanted to see if anyone knows anything. Someone in IRC recommended a reboot & that still didn't let me log in.

---

Edit: Found a workaround. I remembered that I'd just recently swapped out my hd for an SSD. So I put the hd in a usb enclosure & updated that. It patched perfectly. Copied over to my SSD & I'm in-game.

I had the same thing, with the Taiwanese winrar, however I don't know a way to fix this at all. I have the "Client version does not match server version, please update your client" but... I just did...

Anyone else got a fix or work around for this? Thanks in advance.

Sorry that you're having problems. It could be that your a/v program is messing with the patching download and installation process. I'd recommend that you temporarily shut off your a/v program, then go here: Why is it Updating/Manual Patches

Read Tigsman's instructions on how to download and where to move the patch file needed, then download the topmost patch file. Move or copy it to your main Rune of Magic game folder in Program Files or Program Files(x86), then run (double-click) it.

Once it's finished installing and you've tested to make sure the game launcher runs and is properly updated, restore your a/v program.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the very quick reply and point to help. I'll reply to say if this works or not.

-update- No dice, I got the same results as I did from the auto-patch. =\

I've personally never had this particular problem, or even a related one from patching. Not that I can recall, that is.

You might try downloading the previous patch (http://download.frogster.de/patch/en/pat…0.2.2664.en.exe), re-installing it, then follow up with the new patch. I can't tell you whether or not it will work, but there have been instances where repatching with the previous version/patch and then the newest patch(es) has cured the "your version doesn't match" problem.

If that doesn't work, you may well have to do a complete reinstall. If that's the case and you don't have the 6.0.1 installation files, you can find them here: Manual Downloads for the 6.0.1 RoM Client

Guess I'll give reinstalling a try than, nothing really left to do otherwise. Looks like its dirty tricks and no treats this Halloween =| Curse you technology!

Well, my problem is slightly different. I patched fine, did dailies and some of the grind. When I tried to go into my house, loading screen is stuck now. Closed game and re logged, same thing stuck on loading screen, now can't play game. Way to go guys, I've gotten to the point I dread every patch because something is going to be messed up. ycavan guess I'll be on when they can figure out how actually make a good working patch. Tell the guildies what's going on, if this isn't fixed soon, I'm done with this game. Way to much wrong with it and you know what I'm talking about.

They always say it's your AntiVirus and it rarely is.

First off, sad case is, RW/Frogster patch files contain no error correction, so one single bit off during transmission and the whole thing collapses. If that's your problem you will probably have the same issue after and/or during a complete reinstall.

Second, most of us are used to acknowleging "file not found" prompts durning patches. Either RW didn't write some of the file globalization to correctly find and map to the install folders on different peoples machines, or its the lack of error correction again. In any case, I usually just "okay" the errors and everything still works for me.

Best of luck to you!

When anti-virus goes and silently blocks access to a file that it mistakes for virus-like activity (patching another file), the main patcher with throw up a "File Not Found" error.

I, too, am having issues with this patch. Mine is getting stuck at 16% copying the \interface.fdb. Any suggestions? I have tried waiting patiently, I have tried restarting and even went so far as to restart my computer. All 3 times, it gets stuck at the same place.

Mine was as well, but after 10 minutes, it started going again and jumped to 25%, where it paused for another minute. Try leaving it and letting it run for a while.

Had the same thing happen on my pc & the wifes, but I waited 20 mins or so & it eventually finished.

I ran into the same issue. My characters that arent in residences eventually load, but the ones like my main who are in residences are crashed, stuck at the loading screen at 100%. Agree 100% with you. :minigun:

Yes we know what happens when antivirus interferes, and that is not the case here. I've had the same identical issues with AV turned on and off, with Kaspersky and Norton systems, Windows 7 and Vista. Same issues. Fortunately I got past them, but now I'm stuck with not being able to log into certain toons.

:stick: Don't you think you should have some knowledge as to what they're doing to fix the problem, how many people are working on it, and when a fix should be in place? 2/3rds of my guild can't even log onto their main toons, myself included. We're not ranting to vent steam. We're trying to help you guys run a company with what it takes to be successful. Effectively banning 60% of your customer base is not the way to be successful in any economy, let alone this one.
