I keep seeing people refer to the Pumpkin Festival as Halloween. I wanted to take the time to point out a few things, hopefully to help clear up some apparent confusion.
Halloween is basically a one day event, celebrated by Americans.
Fasching , celebrated in Germany as well as in Switzerland and Austria, is a one month festival. There are loads of parties and people out in costume the entire month; its actually quite a sight to see. Also, I feel it is fair to point out, that there is a "Fest" every month (at least) in Germany.
Oktoberfest , for example, begins at the end of September, and goes into October (I have added the links to avoid having to post up a ton of cultural information). They even have a Strawberry Festival that lasts a week, where they serve Strawberry wine.... Celebration and Festival. In the US, we have Holidays; in Europe they have Fests.
What I am trying to get at, is just because "OUR" holiday is over, that does not mean the fest is. Hope that helps add a little light to the concern about the actual holiday.
