Reni - stuck in Login (again)

A couple of people are stuck on Login screen on Reni Server (same as issue a few days ago).

AH and Mail is also down.

Basically, for the 4th year in a row, the halloween event has messed up, there is a maintenance tomorrow which will end the halloween event (thank god!), rani and osha have totally missed the events that were scheduled and given to the other servers, and we can expect more of the same next year because Runewaker is still going to be the developer and we all know they don't actually fix anything.

On a related note, thank you gameforge for being so open and honest with the player base about this issue. This is the kind of support we have been asking for, for so long. The lines of communication are open and transparent finally, no longer do we have admins that just sit in silence/darkness and let us all just kind of wonder wtf is going on. It also seems the mentors are finally on the same page as the admins, which is a huge change from what used to be going on. So for all my doomsaying about the event sucking, at least THAT much is an improvement, and I can't actually bash both the dev AND publisher anymore ;)

(Edit: I think Kalvan might just crap his pants when he reads me giving GF praise lol)

Next festival is the Snowflake Festival with patch 6.0.4 -- each RoM Festival usually runs for 4 weeks to give everyone a good crack at it. This hasn't been happening lately probably due to Runewaker having to comply with more rigorous demands from Gameforge. Unfortunately, it hasn't gone according to plan and patches that worked well on test servers have behaved very differently on the live servers.

So, care to share your source for the Snowflake Festival arriving tomorrow?

It's the halloween event that's breaking the servers. If it DOESN'T arrive tomorrow... you're probably losing Reni and Osha. Not to mention it hasn't been halloween for nearly a week now.. why would a halloween event last for 4 weeks? Halloween is one day. Winter is an entire season. Spring is an entire season. So it makes sense that those festivals run for awhile.

Either way Halloween has come and gone. Time to move on to the next thing and IF the festival is the cause of the issues on Reni and Osha then GET RID OF IT!!!

Much like other people on Reni I can't get either of my accounts past the login screen and I understand the AH and mail is not working as well. What's the point of playing IF you can get in if the AH, mail, your house and guild castle (which includes SW) is all not working due to a festival for a holiday that's already passed?

We hope to have the problems finally fixed after the maintenance. Depending on what the IT will do with Reni and Osha tomorrow, it might take a bit longer for the maint. to end for these servers. But the patch of the Pumpkin Festival is not the problem of the current issues, otherwise it would affect all the servers which it does not.

Neither Reni nor Osha missed out on the Helloween Events held by the team, because we postponed them until the problems are solved.

Helloween itself is usually the evening of Oct31 into the night of Nov 1st.

The Pumpkin festival and the Juice festival are some the RoM ingame festivals that appear every year in the autumn/fall season.

Pumpkin Festival starting dates:
2013: Oct 28.
2012: Oct 27.
2011: Oct 25.
2010: Oct 29-
2009: Oct 28.

But from what I figured from looking up the older threads, the Pumpkin Festival usually did not have a runtime of 4 or more weeks, rather 2.5-3 weeks.
We'll see how long it runs this year until it is successed by the Juice festival. But no, there will not be Patch 6.04 tomorrow already. Yrcanos just accidentally skipped the Juice festival, Snowflake is scheduled for 6.05. ;-)

Winter begins Dec21/22 and lasts until March, while fall begins around 22/23 September. [northern hemisphere] Fall is also a full season. :ninja:

Indeed they are, but they are scheduled in the opposite order this year. Usually, we get Juice, Pumpkin & then Autumn Harvest (4 weeks after the Pumpkin Festival starts!)

Just because we have holidays, events, festivals or parties that last for weeks or just one day does not mean they run the same in Taborea.
(btw - Mother's Day is in March! :P)

I keep seeing people refer to the Pumpkin Festival as Halloween. I wanted to take the time to point out a few things, hopefully to help clear up some apparent confusion.

Halloween is basically a one day event, celebrated by Americans. Fasching , celebrated in Germany as well as in Switzerland and Austria, is a one month festival. There are loads of parties and people out in costume the entire month; its actually quite a sight to see. Also, I feel it is fair to point out, that there is a "Fest" every month (at least) in Germany. Oktoberfest , for example, begins at the end of September, and goes into October (I have added the links to avoid having to post up a ton of cultural information). They even have a Strawberry Festival that lasts a week, where they serve Strawberry wine.... Celebration and Festival. In the US, we have Holidays; in Europe they have Fests.

What I am trying to get at, is just because "OUR" holiday is over, that does not mean the fest is. Hope that helps add a little light to the concern about the actual holiday. :thumbsup:

I never said the snowflake event was starting, I said the halloween event was ending, and it did, because logic. (GF is doing much better than FA ever did to manage events so I deduced (correctly) that the patch would bring the end of the halloween event. )

The event ended, and Reni/Osha are fixed, that might be a coincidence, but it sure seems to be some strong corroborating evidence to the contrary.

There are some faults in your logic, GW...

1. There was no patch issued today.

2. The Pumpkin Festival event is still in effect. It is not "The Halloween Festival".

3. The issues that Reni and Osha went through did not happen to the other five US servers, Thalia, or the EU servers.
