Really simple way to test if it is the pumpkin festival or not... remove it, if the problems go away then you know the solution is to never run the festival again unless RW fixes it. If the problems persist even with the festival gone, then it is something deeper. That is the only way to really test this theory, even though those of us who have been here the last couple years already know it is the festival since this is a recurring pumpkin festival issue.
Ghost, Saito has already stated that the Pumpkin Festival has nothing to do with the recent server issues, and I concur. Logic dictates that if it
was the source of the problems,
all of our servers, US, AU, and EU alike, would have been affected.
The only festival which has consistently caused game issues has been the Fire Festival, which routinely screws up Siege, and across all servers. The only
inconsistency is that randomly, a handful of players have been able to enter Siege, while others cannot. In fact, those who are unable to enter Siege find that nearby NPCs tend to fade out and disappear, the client becomes unresponsive, and then drops to the login screen. You have to exit the client completely, sometimes wait for 15-30 seconds, and then log back in. And if you do get into Siege and should happen to crash, you cannot re-enter Siege upon logging back in--the client behaves as if you were unable to enter Siege in the first place. Makes it hard on a guild whose Herald has crashed--nobody else in that guild can become Herald. Unless none of the opposing guild managed to get in, of course.
One hopes that RW will figure out what part(s) of the Fire Festival interfere with Siege and will make corrections.
Don't see it happening. It is not New Coke.
If "New Coke" was introduced in 1985, and has been around for about 30 years now, how long before it loses that title?

According to Wikipedia, New Coke was introduced on April 23, 1985. "Old" Coke--the original recipe--was re-introduced on July 10, 1985 after The Coca-Cola Company had been pounded by fans and the media. New Coke was renamed "Coke II" in 1992, and discontinued in 2002. (

April 23, 1985, a date that will live in infamy...
And I don't even drink Coke. If I can't get Dr Pepper or Vernors, I'll settle for Pepsi (Pepsi Throwback, if it's available.)
