Ayen Poole and Overlord Pumpkins deactivated
Dear RoMmunity,

As a result of noticed client instabilities of game client, today we've decided to take down immediately the following NPCs present in Silverspring:
Ayen Poole
Overlord Pumpkins

The game client instability was obviously related to these NPCs. Together with the game developer, Runewaker Entertainment, we will be working on solution.
We would like not only to apologize for the whole occurence, but also thank for cooperation in finding this bug. Everyday, together, we try make this game better. Thank you!

Best regards,
Your RoM Team

OK then, let me get this straight.. we had several cm/gm/fm people tell us that the festival did NOT cause the issues multiple times. NOW, you say that parts of the festival DID cause the issues. Not to be mean, but is that crow tasty?

The event at the haunted farm in Silverspring caused people to crash out in Silverspring (and only there, and only for a specific reason) because infinite Pumpkins from this event stacked (instead of getting deleted after the event was done by a player). This caused FPS and lag in the area of the haunted farm to the point of people crashing out.

This is a problem that came in with 6.03.2672, aka THIS TUESDAY. I believe it was tried by Runewaker to fix the problem of ghosts for this event not spawning after a while of playing, but something went wrong. It first appeared on some german servers, but the more players actually played the haunted farm, the worse it became.

So what was done was: deactivate Ayen Poole (who starts the event) and get rid of the pumpkins that were already there. Via a zone restart of the Silverspring zone this morning German time around 10am. On all servers of RoM.

Here is an example from Tuesday evening GMT+1 : http://www.bilder-upload.eu/upload/2d6db9-1384887040.jpg ... this continued to increase until this morning. The more actve the server, the worse the problem.
["Mächtiger Kürbis" = Overlord Pumpkin ... there should be *one* per spawnpoint aka there SHOULD be *3* health bars. Not 32+ or even 100+ ]

This has nothing to do with a multitude of zones going down, or AH/Mail not working, or whole servers getting disconnected, which we had in the last weeks on the US servers. And only there. This was a global problem, and it was introduced on Tuesday.

Houses and guild castle are shut down on Palenque. It says "Zone not open" if you try to enter. Also only 1 channel available in every zone.

Hi,

We are aware of the issues and are currently creating a report to be sent to those who can rectify the situation.
Again, please be patient and we will get this sorted as soon as we can. We too are as frustrated as all of you.

Server issue - Govinda

You know, Frogster ran this much better. Just saying, GF can't seem to keep these servers up for a weekend. Considering how much server populations have dropped, these kinds of service interruptions shouldn't happen. I can remember during chapters 1, 2 & 3 having so many people on, you had to fight for mobs. Yet the servers would run for the whole week between patches. Now pop is down to almost nothing (at least it feels that way), and you can't keep these things up for a weekend. I want to play!

How much longer?

Just curious how much longer. Frustrating not being able to play on a day off. Why does Artemis keep going down so much? I remember the population being much bigger too (in agreement with fighting for mobs and basically standing on top of each other) I played the other day and saw only two other players. :|

I am going to respond to the comment about Frogster ran it easier than GF. Here is the reason I think this is the case:

Some background:
Servers only have so much space/resources. As a game grows like this one where new zones are introduced, new NPCs, and new mobs they need more server space. This is the reason that I believe zones are losing channels. Real easy to free up bandwidth by taking low population zones, removing a few channels to free up the resources of new zones. However, you can see where you will eventually hit a tipping point where there is only 1 channel for each zone, instances have been limited to the minimum numbers allowed at a time....and they still need more space. This is when you start to have zones crashing cause you are hoping you can share resources across them.

So Frogster could keep the game up and running more because the game was probably (conservative guess) 1/3 to 1/2 smaller than it is now (better wording, it was 66% to 50% the size, not 33% of the size it is now). This means that the blame does not rest on all the GF employees, merely the ones making the decisions to NOT expand the server hardware in hopes to save more money on the games running cost. The Employees that are keeping them running and doing all they can to fix the problems are then doing a BETTER job than Frogsters cause they are fielding more problems and getting them fixed in better time.

Therefore, I suspect it is not GF that is the problem but their "bottom line" guy and his choices... Which our buying of diamonds... or lack thereof .... contribute to. It is a pretty pickle that they are facing.... If I was that bottom line guy though, I would poney up the extra money, explain to the game community that this is being done and why, and try to restore some faith in their business decisions. But that is just me.

Todays problems are not limited to RoM US. Or even RoM at all.
Maybe we can give out more details later, maybe not. Not for me to decide and this is as much detail I can give atm.

Meanwhile we're working on getting the stuff back online and the zones/services back on those servers who are still online.

I'm guessing this is related to the DDoS that the server facility is unable to mitigate?
