Addon Settings for Multiple-Installations on One Computer

I've recently installed/copied Runes of magic, so that I have one "clean" client, with minimal addons installed, with lowest graphics settings set on launch. I have no issues with video /audio /interface settings, but when I go from the clean client to my normal one with all addons, the ADDONs are all reset to default, no settings saved.

Does anyone know of an easy way to circumvent this? I've heard of poeple installing on partitioned drives working well, but my drive is not partitioned, and would rather not have to go through the work of doing so. Something like editing one of the .ini files or something to save settings from the clean client to another directory would work.

You need to make a copy of your "Runes of Magic" folder in your my documents folder. Rename the one used for your "clean" client to something like Runes of Magic_n so that it is not active

When you want to switch clients, just swap the folder names.

That's the problem, right?

You could also just do what I do and set up all your addons on your main client, log out and set the main 'Savedvariables' file to 'Read Only'.
By doing that addon's and settings wont reset/change, so when going from your clean client to main 1, none of the settings had been saved on the clean client, meaning all settings are as they were when you last 'saved' them on your main client.
The ONLY issue with this is when you want to update settings, but that is hardly a problem, just have to un-tick Read Only before you log out with the changes in place and reapply it after client is offline.

Also stops those oh so lovely UI resets that you sometimes get with multiple clients logged in and/or crashing.

Since I have just recently returned to ROM after a year I am having an issue with my addons. Upon returning the client I was running wouldn't update all the new patches so I had to start from scratch which gave me the Gameforge Client. Now I have no idea how or where to put my addons as there is no addon folder like in the previous client. Could someone help me. I had the Curse Client which usually installed them for me but now I can't get that to work for ROM. Some of my favorite addons such as Advanced Auction house are gone :(

I don't have the gameforge client, but if i remember from teamviewer experiences there's a folder called Gameforge. one of the sub folders there will contain the game itself, and from there you find/make interface\addons folders.

Okay I'll try this. I'll have to make the folder as there is no interface folder.

@CammoXD : yep, brilliant. :)
The ONLY issue with this is when you want to update settings, but that is hardly a problem, just have to un-tick Read Only before you log out with the changes in place and reapply it after client is offline.
Just to make it clear: it's not just about consciously changed settings but also about a few things that addons save automatically for you.

So for example UltimateMailMod saves the name of your new toon when it first uses mail. For its name to be saved in "your characters" you would need to make the file writable for a moment before logging out of the new toon account.

Also make it writable e.g. before logging out from your AH alt to make sure your last prices and history of prices is saved. (Which actually might be a nice practice anyway for people _without_ multiple installations, but running a few copies of the same client in parallel - it's annoying if e.g. your last AH price is not saved because you logged out of the AH alt while another client was still running...)
