And it crashes again. Crashes after updater.

Thought I fixed the problem, Thread Here, restarted the computer and it is doing it again. Crashes at black screen and no way to fix it. Any ideas on what I should be doing? it is one of the very first programs installed on the Re installed 8.1 OS and doesn't work.

Windows 8 Pro
Nvidia GTX 760
I7 4770k Processor

Steps I did:
1. Formatted hard drive, installed 64-bit Windows 8
2. Installed LAN driver for internet.
3. Installed DirectX
4. Installed Runes of Magic using the exe and 9 bin files.
5. Update to 6.0.6.2685.en
6. Crash....

How is that possible? Nothing can conflict with it? The only thing I can think of is: 1. the installer files are no longer valid and are corrupted. or 2. The patches are no longer valid or are corrupted.

My first thought when I read your post was, is the main rom program a 64 bit version?

There is no "64-bit version" of the RoM game client. It is a 32-bit program. For computers using 64-bit versions of Windows, the RoM game client installs in (by default) C:\Program Files(x86)\Runes of Magic.

Eggman: Why are you installing DirectX? Windows 8 should come with the latest version and your video card has it in firmware. Perhaps this is causing the crash problem.

The highest level of DX required IN FIRMWARE for RoM is 9.03c, as I recall. Later versions are all supersets of 9.03c.

Its starting to look like its not ROM, that is causing the problems, though the shortcut it makes doesn't work. Doesn't link anywhere.
What programs do I need installed for ROM to work?

Nvidia Graphics Driver
Lan Network Driver
????

in the crash report I get this:
<ExceptionRecord ExceptionAddress="0x64f39c4b" ExceptionDescription="EXCEPTION_INT_DIVIDE_BY_ZERO" ExceptionCode="0xc0000094" ModuleName="C:\Program Files (x86)\Runes of Magic\Client.exe"/><Processor NumberOfProcessors="8" Level="Intel Pentium Pro or Pentium II" Architecture="PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL"/><OperatingSystem CSDVersion="" BuildNumber="9200" MinorVersion="2" MajorVersion="6"/>

Does this tell me anything?

Ok so I reset my Bios and for some reason that seems to fix the problem. I will leave this thread open for a day or two to see if it was the problem or not. -werid

Try removing the runes of magic folder in my documents?
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.
