Did you check if A) the region settings in the launcher are correct B) you created an account on the website for the region you are trying to play on (US or EU) and C) if you can log in with your created account on the website?

As Soriya said above me. The default region on the launcher is English (GB), I believe, not USA. Please make sure you have selected the proper region on the launcher. You can select the region by clicking the red button marked 'Region / Language' under the progress bars right after opening the launcher.

The good news is since Gameforge took over, the game content is the same between regions, so switching regions on the launcher after downloading the content for a specific region doesn't mean you have to download content for the other region.

Same Problem

I'm having the same problem. After reading the answers, I went and made sure both game and launcher and website are all USA-still getting a User name password incorrect message :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

try logging into the US website(maybe you tried, can't tell by the post). if that gives u error also, try setting launcher region to EU, and logging in.

One thing that catches a few players off-guard id the GameforgeLive launcher.
By setting it to the region USA/Englsih, all you get is the US version of the GameforgeLive launcher.

You will need to set the RoM launcher to USA/English by using the big red button marked "Region/Language".

I used the big red button to change to USA...I can log into the website-it's also set to USA-but not the game...sigh...

'nother question-What's up with the second password? I don't remember setting a second one.

second one is set the first time you log onto a server.

i would try changing the region in the RoM launcher directly, as well as just get rid of GFlive...

Don't you need CFlive to run the game? Yesterday I uninstalled and re-installed everything-when I went to uninstall GFlive it told me I would need it to run Game Forge titles. Made sure everything was set to USA when I downloaded again, and I'm still getting a password error-can get on the website....guess I'll just have to find a different game to play...

Thanks for trying to help

You can get rid of the Gameforge Live (GFL) launcher, but you will also have to remove RoM from your computer. Do that via Windows Control Panel/Programs and Features.

There is a workaround to the GFL here: Manual Downloads for the 6.0.1 RoM Client These are the direct RoM file downloads that do not require the GFL.

Read Inferiority's starter post and follow his instructions on downloading the installation files, installing the game, and allowing it to update itself.

Also check the email that is linked to your game account. You should have received an authorization/activation mail. Find it and click on the link provided in it to complete the activation of your game account.

And, of course, make sure the Region and Language for your newly-installed game is set to US/English.

iirc, just move RoM outside of GFlive, make shortcut to client.exe, and it should work fine...i know a couple people that have done that, and no problems yet.

That works if you're reasonably computer-literate and know where to look for the RoM folder. But many people aren't and don't.

That's why I tend to give long explanations.

Either way will work.

Either way might work....but giving a thorough explanation of how to remove the RoM folder from the GFLive directory saves them a LOT of time and also downloads if they have a limit. I would personally only suggest removing GFLive + RoM as a last resort if something was really messed up.

Remove Gameforge Live Without Reinstalling RoM

1. Delete your current RoM/Gameforge Live "Desktop" icon(s).
2. Navigate through your programs files and open the Gameforge Live folder.
3. Locate the folder for Runes of Magic but do not open it.
4. Right-Click on the Runes of Magic folder and select "Cut" or "Copy".
5. Go back to your program files list and "Paste" it there or press "Ctrl + V" (it may take a few minutes to move the folder).
6. Once the copying process is complete, open that Runes of Magic folder.
7. Right-Click on either "Client.exe" or "Runes of Magic.exe" (either one will be fine).
8. Choose "Send To" >> "Desktop (Create Shortcut)". (rename ONLY the "Desktop Shortcut" if you want).
9. Double-Click the new shortcut on your desktop and verify the Runes of Magic launcher opens.
10. Fully uninstall the Gameforge Live program (it is no longer needed if step 9 was successful).
11. Login and begin playing!
