I've never had problems patching the game using the non-Gameforge shortcut. The actual Gameforge executables still exist on my system too.removing GFlive altogether removes the extra step that tends to create problems with running/patching the game.
I think the purpose is to remove any conflicting programs. If all you do is delete the shortcuts, you are not actually removing the program and it will still interfere. So, no it does not accomplish the same bypass because it will still be on your computer working in the background. I've just downloaded the game yesterday and I've been trying to get logged on to the actuall game since 7:30 this morning (it is now 10:00). Hopefully this fixes my issues and lets me in.I might be missing the purpose behind uninstalling Gameforge, but if the purpose is to just bypass it, all you need to do is 1) remove any Gameforge shortcuts on your desktop (your step 1) and 2) create a new shortcut to the .exe mentioned in step 7 above.
Much simpler, faster, and accomplishes the same bypass?

I do have the client open, I get the Account or Password Error message. My account on the RoM site is in the US and I have the client (pretty sure it's the client) set to US as well.I think the purpose is to remove any conflicting programs. Do you have the actual client open trying to log in? If so, what's the error it gives you?
Provide the background process name you are alluding to. I (and others) have been fine for years using this bypass shortcut method.
