Account Hacking

I had offered something in world Chat for sale was whispered price was to high and given link saying go to this site and it would show me why. Stupidly I did and site would not load took out numbers after the http address and saw it looked like a legitimate site but was a screen saver site. Told the player [removed] this and they said oops was wrong site and gave another link, this showed a screen shot of google page. They then informed me IE sucked and said good bye. I immediately logged off to run security checks as was getting concerned. when came back on they said they were going to log me off again, I filed ticket contacted my security system had them access computer and make sure it was cleared and secured also changed passwords and checked account equipment. I just want others to beware and hope you do not follow stupid things I did in going to these sites.

While your intentions might be in the right place, mentioning player names on the forums are against our rules.

Note to everyone: be mindful of the links you click/copy in game. Links posted by suspicious people who you've never known might be simply harmless, but others might install programs on your machine to steal your account information.

I believe in this case, however, the link was designed to simply obtain your IP address to perform a "DDoS" on your internet connection, inevitably flooding your connection with packets that it kicks you off of RoM.

You should always change your passwords regularly, and if you suspect someone has logged into your account.

Wow!!! I find it remarkable to believe that when a player's (who is now showing as not found) rights are protected over legitimate players rights. This person not only threatened to Log me out of game but when I would log back in continued to whisper that he was logging me out again and did!!!! And yet Game Forges representative here reprimands me for using players name in forum when I am trying to warn other players to not repeating My MISTAKES (and yes I own responsibility for going to linked web sites). In the immortal words of Steve Martin "Well Excuse Meeeeeee". And to other legitimate player out there this shows how much Game Forge and it's representatives are concerned about your rights, internet security, and game security.

No. It shows how much Gameforge is concerned in following The Law. There's a reason why the forum rules forbid calling out players such as this. The correct place to report players is at Customer Support, not here in the forum.
