Auto-follow function

Hello! I'm a new RoM player and I've just activated the auto-follow option in the Interface Menu -> Controls. What I expected to happen was that my character started to run automatically to a target I selected to attack, but the message "target is too far away" (or something like this) keeps appearing when I press the attack button and my character doesn't move as well.

I dunno if I'm missusing this function, so please, tell me what I can do to my character tracks a targeted enemy.

The follow option is mostly used for alts, when someone has two or more characters logged in at the same time and wants to move them from point A to point B its useful to put the alts on follow so you only have to control one toon and the rest will follow.

I believe the function you're looking for might be the "click to move" function. If you go into the interface settings and controls and select "Click to Move". Then you can either double click a target and your toon will run to it and attack it or you can select a target and hit an attack skill and your toon will run to it and attack it.

Yes, clicking the "Attack" function without having 'click to move' enabled will mean nothing happens.

Oh, now I understand, thank you. I deactivated the click-to-move function because it bothers me when wandering through the cities, as I like to click everywhere to look, but not for walking. It's just a matter of practice, though.

But I still got a doubt about these "alts". How can I log in more than a character? Is this even possible?! (without using those hacking programs, etc)

I'm just trying to understand the usefullness of the auto-follow mode. I'm a beginner, so these doubts are fairly common, right? :P

Most "dual client". That is running more than one client on your PC or on another PC in your house for the benefit of leveling him/her up or performing trades. I believe which is perfectly legal in the terms of the rules as it was confirmed a bit ago that having more than one account was not breaking the ToS...and by skimming the ToS it does not state you can have only one account logged in at a time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong though but this is my interpretation of the rules.

Toggle click to move with macro

macro list in that post will help you -- make a macro to turn off/on click to move -- specifically the bottom one in the list. When in cities put it in off mode so you can look around without moving, and turn it on when fighting monsters so attacks auto-move in range.

been questioned and verified many times. there is no limit to the amount of accounts you can have or how many of them are logged in at the same time.

to answer the OP's most recent question: each char logged in at the same time = different account. you cannot have multiple clients logged into the same account, but if you are playing on your main, make a new account, start another client, you will be able to log in to the new account and play alongside your main. most who multi-client use windowed mode to be able to switch between them at will easier.

to address your movement/view problem: what works for me moving when outside of combat is holding down both mouse keys. you will walk/run straight ahead, and moving your mouse steers. if you want to just look around without changing your char's direction, when running(using arrow keys or auto run/move-to function)/standing still, I believe its the right(or maybe default is left...sorry, can some1 verify?) mouse button that allows you to change view angle without impacting current movement or lack thereof.

...you cannot have multiple clients logged into the same account...

The second log in will cause the first to log out when you use the same account.

It's the RMB that controls the camera angle.

Oh, that's a great idea! I'm used to these macros cuz of other RPG's I already played. It seems I was missusing the auto-follow function, and I wasn't undestanding how it really worked. Thank you ;)
