For folks who want to post angrily here, but don't want to read through the thread, I'll condense it.
Problem: Many, though not all, players are being kicked to the login screen (not char selection or desktop or usual crash) many times per sitting, making gameplay difficult.

Packet loss is occurring at hop xe-0-2-3.mia12.ip4.gtt.net.
Edit:
Yep, anytime I run this and I get kicked back to login screen, something is going on after the ae4-69.atl11.ip4.gtt.net hop where packet loss is occurring. This is not good and the cause of our stability issues..
This is the problem many of the players are experiencing. It's not the patch. It's not the festival. It's not the server(s). It's not anything more or less or different than a bad switch along the information path to the server. If the timing suggests otherwise to you, then I'll direct you
here. Of all the tracerouts posted here, ALL the sick ones have this bad node, and no healthy ones do.
Behold! a workaround:
I configured my vpn to the config listed on http://freevpn.me/accounts, (PPTP version) it has not disconnected once since I started using this free vpn service. Problem is 300ms ping compared to 50ms ping without.
But at least I can stay connected to play. I disconnected 10+ times last night in siege, and is the reason I looked into the vpn stuff.
I will see if I can find another vpn with lower latency, and when/if I do I will post on here. If anyone else finds one that's completely free also and has better latency, please feel free to post. It will help us all.....
Some clever soul found a way to avoid the bad switch, and it solved the problem! Amazing things can happen when you know the source of the headaches, instead of insisting on a false source.
Now, enough talk of hand-washing, and of finger-pointing, of support not giving a hoot, or any such thing. Seriously,
Enough. We have spent enough time troubleshooting this, and even on a holiday weekend, to make that notion untenable.
