How long should new patches take?

So I'm currently dowloading the new versions of the game since I haven't used it since late 2013. It's taking a while. I think it's been loading for nearly 20 hours. It is currently on version 5.0.9

Every patch takes about half an hour to download. So if we're in 6.2, that means from 5.0.9 to get there would take 55 hours if I it takes 110 more patches to get there. Is there a way I can make the download faster?

You could always manual download the 6.06 client. Here's the thread about it. Manual Downloads for the 6.0.6 RoM Client

Its always worth looking after a break just how much download of manual patches there is to get up to date. After a long break it might've been worth redownloading the game completely from scratch. So yes, as zeri suggested downloading the client again is most likely the quickest way to speed it up.

So should I delete ROM from my computer and download 6.0.6? I started to download one of the Bins, and it said it would take 5 hours, so I'm not sure if downloading all of them would save time.

This would be the way to go; installing 30-40 patches between two "chapters" not only takes a very long time but can also be problematical--far more chances to have corrupted files. You would be better off manually downloading and installing the 6.0.6 client, then updating from there.

Download speed will depend on your own nominal download/sec speed. Basic internet (~ 1.5Mbit/sec), while using a wireless connection is far slower than a nominal 10-15-20-25 Mbit/sec speed. I could see some of the larger game files taking 2-3 hours to download.

So I am not on version 6.0.0 After hitting 5.0.10, it went to 6.0.0, instead of 5.1.0 which is a relief. This means it will take about 3is hours so I shouldn't bother uploading the 6.06 client, although if I take another long break, I might do that.

The largest patch RoM has had in version 6 is 1.2GB which takes quite a long time to download. If you have the opportunity to download some of the manual patches from here for your future patching Why is it Updating/Manual Patches and drop them in the RoM folder the patcher will use local ones before it downloads them from the internet. Might save you a bit of time if you can grab some of the patches cocurrent with some of your other patching.
