Well for one you should go grab the most recent up loader which starts at 4.0.0.2360 go to http://us.runesofmagic.com/us/downloads,client,us.html to download either the full or slim client.

Make sure you delete the old game and installer first. You can keep your interface folder should you want too save any addons you might have.

Once you've got the new installer, install as normal and if you encounter any problems refer back to the first page of this thread and start the manual patching process from your clients version number and work your way back up the list.

i would just like to know why the following patch when i try download freezes at 19mb while all others download perfectly

Need the patch from today. Manually patching is the only thing that works for me it seems now :/

Starting message has been updated to include the 4.0.1.2412en patch.

whats the last updates number? ive been waiting for 7 hours for it too finish. im on 4.0.1.2412.en. This is my first time playing. If it doesnt finish, then im not going to play this game anymore.

LOL dumb question here i do not know where my installation folder is and im not sure if its supposed to be an installation folder for the computer itself or the game. if anyone could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated

The starter message in the thread is your friend here. But I'll repost a portion of it for you:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR MANUAL PATCHES:
take the download patch from below and put it in your installation folder.

By default 32bit OS

c:\program files\runes of magic

By default 64bit OS

c:\program files (x86)\runes of magic

then execute the patch from the installation folder and let it run its course.

I attempted a reinstall after reading about the update error on the forums. Still, I continually have the update error where it downloads 100% and the update is at 79%. Sometimes it will go past 100% to the "Checking MD5" but still it will not download past 3.0.1.2178. I have tested the threads which show the alternative manual update and the site does not work!!!! If anyone has an easy solution to this problem, please reply to this with useful information.
-Yes I do have enough usable memory (around 50 GBs to use).
-I am above all minimum standards to use the game.
-I have created an account on Frogster and RoM.

Note what I boldfaced, underlined, and italicized in the quote above. You're starting out with an old set of installation files. The installation files we have on our website are much more current and include the initial Chapter IV content.

I'd recommend uninstalling what you have of the game, deleting your old installation files, and then downloading the newer files from our main page. Not only will the updating process take less time, you won't be subject to the errors you're having with the old installation files.

Yesterday, after looking over the Runes of Magic website and liking what I found, I decided to download it.

I downloaded the slim credit, because it halved the time to around two and a half hours.

Two and a half hours alter, it said : Congratulations. And I continued the set-up. It loaded, and the icon popped up on my desktop. It then asked me if I wanted to start playing right away. So obviously, I clicked 'Yes' and it got me to the loading screen where in the corner it said Play Game. ( I added an attachment to this post to help you guys.)
There were two loading screens in the bottom left hand corner. The top one read Downloading and the bottom one read Uploading.

So here's the thing. I got to 100% on the Downloading one and then I always got stuck around 79% on the Uploading one. And the whole thing restarts. I have no idea what's wrong and I tried over many times.
I read about this in a post that I can't locate now () and it said as long as it ventures past 79% eventually, its fine. But it still gets stuck. Once I got to 82% but then it restarted and stopped at 79% again the next time.

Anyone have suggestions? I'll reply ASAP. Thanks, this community is great, and I really do hope to play...

I realize now that it's fine to have it stop at 79%. But it keeps getting stuck at 79% or 81%. This already happened about four or five times, with no improvement. Should I be doing something...or am I already doing something wrong?

This is normal for a new game installation. Presuming that you have the current installation files, there will be at least 8 updates (since they were compiled) that will have to be downloaded and applied.

40 mins max (for 4.0.1.2430)

Once again I can't spend my diamonds because I can't download the most recent patch. Include a link in the patch notes and I won't have to kill the bunny.

Kalvan, the moderator that has graciously continued to keep this thread updated since the OP no longer plays has likely not been on the forums yet today, and there for, not been able to update to the current patch as of yet.

Why don't you practice some patience instead of making idle threats, check back in a few hours and it might be updated.

Or you could always go check the EU.

Why do you need manual patches? Are you blocking the auto update server?
