weird, i've nvr heard of a site that was sensitive about uppercase vs lowercase before...apparently frogster's site is one of those ones or it may be browser specific regarding the whole lowercase vs uppercase...idk. somehow for me, firefox differenciates between the two as separate addresses.

copy the site link & lowercase the "P" to "p" for "patch" & it'd download

I appreciate the information.

However, the condescending and disparaging comments were unnecessary. Broken links are such a common occurrence today, are people now required to "guess" what the author was attempting to post? If that's the case, I'll be missing a lot because I'm not here to fix someone's mistake. It's not my job.

BTW, according to how a Linux/Unix server is configured, case does make a difference. Not sure about windows servers. I haven't much experience with them.

anyways, it wasn't a broken link, broken links are more of nothing is located on the server named that at that address. The name of that patch file was just mistyped as Patch_4.0.5.2467.en_4.0.5.2472.en.exe while the file was uploaded to the server & named as patch_4.0.5.2467.en_4.0.5.2472.en.exe.

First post here and I chose this thread because it effects me as well.. Right now I am running an update of my drivers and all the usual, so I thought I would ask something..

After reading the lions share of this thread looking for a cure for my "version doesn't match" error, I had a thought.. For all those running windows 7 particularly 64 bit premium or ultimate editions with all the extra bells and whistles like the annoying yet more secure UAC controls that come with those. Has anyone tried to run the original installer with admin privileges?

I didn't think of it but I have found a lot of problems with UAC particularly with installs of programs like MMO and other games which rely on supporting a great many architectures and system specs. As I understand this game will run on windows xp to win 7 and all points in between and as low as a near 10 year old graphics card. If that's the case than UAC will have fits more than it won't. ..

Maybe its been gone over on here and I missed it and if so call me the dummy of the day and ignore this post. But just in case I plan on running the install again i will start by running the original installer (the small one) with admin rights as well the game itself. It has saved me more headaches than anything else with win7..

Alright. First off, I know this game takes hours to download/update and I've been at it for hours. I'm fine with that. I'm just not sure if what I'm experiencing is "normal" behavior for the update process.

The top bar of the game launcher, the "Update" bar, has been at 100% for quite some time now.
The bottom bar, the "Update" bar, has been stuck at 95% for over 3 hours.
The worst part of this is that the transfer speed went from 60's, to 50's, alll the way down to 20's, and plummeted still, all the way down it's current 8'ish% kb/s.

These are the parts I'm not sure of. Is the "Update" bar being stuck at 95% for over 3 hours a usual thing? Is it normal for the transfer rate to fluctuate so much during patching and for it to get stuck at <10% kb/s for HOURS on end (over 4 hours now).

So, should I close it and re-open it? If I did that would it restart my updating process? Is this "normal" behavior for this game?

I would greatly appreciate a knowledgeable and informative reply.

You should be able to safely stop and then restart the game client if the update process is "stuck".

Not sure how much easier they can make it -- it's automatic. Start the client, it gets the patches and installs them. A small number of folks have problems with the process, usually traceable to something on their system, such as the firewall blocking the update process.

Yes, they should update the client more often, but still, it's not that complicated a process.

Waiting a whole day to a day an a half for normal connections is not easy for many people, specially if you need to be connected constantly, and use your internet very moderately in order to let the connection as free as possible so that this gargantuan download can happen. I'm so glad they have the browser version now. I just don't know if the browser version works as good as this one, because I was not very happy with the performance. Don't remember it being so jerky when I played it over a year ago.

So, no, it's NOT easy to wait that long, even if the process is simple.

BTW, It's probably common to expect that if you stop the download, it will start where you left of when you continue later; but it should say it somewhere, because i don't dare stop it. I tried downloading the compressed version, it stopped for a little while and then it started allover, so... I guess, unless I'm certain I can start where I left, I'm doomed to leave my computer alone until this torture is finally over.

The patch list has been updated. Some of us don't get up at the crack o' dawn.

Are these ALL the manual patches for a CLEAN patching? Im downloading the 5 parts right now (slim)? I asked this because this starts at chapter III rather than chapter 1. Thanks. I'm a starter

You will be starting with the Chapter IV installation files, unless you're installing from the RoM boxed game set. When you have completed the initial installation and have started the game launcher for the first time, look in the lower right corner of the launcher window to see the revision level. The current revision level of the game is 4.0.8.2498en. This will give you an idea of which manual patches you may need to install if the autopatcher doesn't work for you.

I am having trouble downloading a patch. At the bottom right, the patch is 4.0.6.2483en. Right down the "Download" is stuck at 1% and the "Update" is stuck at 79%. I read in the beginning of the forum that it's common to get stuck at 79%, but it's been like this for over an hour now with no progress. Should I continue to wait or is there an issue that I should address?

Also wanted to add that I've downloaded Aion, Wow, Perfect World, and Allods before with no issues. This is the first MMO that I've had problems with downloading. Just wanted to put that out there, as there is probably nothing wrong with my computer.

It's generally safe to close and restart the game launcher if the update progress becomes stuck. The autopatcher should restart and continue normally. Let me know if you continue to have problems with this.

Wow thanks a ton! Couldn't play for 2 days because my patcher never started up after i rage closed it the first time
