Hi everyone!
I'm having trouble with the 4.0.10 patch. It downloads fully, but when the updater comes up, it reads, "The system cannot find the files specified". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Im also having trouble patching this game. It keeps saying windows cannot find patch _4.0.9.2517en_4.010.2513.en.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again. I keep getting this message, any help will be appreciated. Thanks guys

I posted this elsewhere before I found this thread....


I have the Wrong Version after Patch Download.
After downloading this morning's patch, I try to launch the game and I am getting the error message that my version and the server version do not match. How do I fix this? The game won't launch now and restarting the launcher does not fix the issue.

EDIT:
I tried redownloading the patch manually. I'm still getting the same error. Also, note that I get a pop up window that has a yellow exclaimation point with a question mark that says "Windows ???". I got this error also when using the launcher as described above.

I'm at a loss as to how to fix this now.

Sorry about the delay in getting this thread updated with the new patch (04/17/12). I wasn't informed in advance that there would be a patch, so I slept in. :(

Wolfe, you have a couple of options. The first one is to download the newest three patches (today's, plus the ones from last week) and manually installing them. They're all in the starter message for this thread.

The other option is far less fun--removing the game, then doing a full reinstall. Try the first option, and if it doesn't work for you, you'll have to go with option #2.

Runewaker/Frogster do not update the full client download with each and every patch. Therefore, after you download the 5GB+ of the game client and run the installer, once that completes, it has more to download and install to be able to play. Right now, about 560MB of patches are needed from a clean install. Just check the lower right corner of the launcher for progression on the current version you have installed. It is normal for it to get stuck around 79% on the update bar, then restart itself and start to load the next patch. so long as the version number keeps progressing, its all normal, leave it alone.

Q. How long is it going to take to patch the game?
How long it takes will depend on many things, one being your internet connection speed. General rule of thumb, if this is a fresh clean install, expect at least several hours to download and fully patch and that's even with a 10Mb connection.

Q. Wonder why you get errors before even logging in?
There could be several reasons as to why you get errors at the time the launcher executes. A bad patch, problems writing files to your hard drive, permissions settings of your PC and even the hardware you are using on your system not meeting the Minimum Requirements, among others. If the following manual patches do not resolve your issue, please post your issue in the Technical Issues forum.

Q. Why do I keep getting an extract to popup?
Currently there is a bug in the installation. The devs are working on it, until they fix it, you need to simply keep selecting the installation folder for the game, this may happen many many times, just keep selecting it:
By default 32bit OS: c:\program files\runes of magic
By default 64bit OS: c:\program files (x86)\runes of magic

Note: Potential workaround for the 'extract to' popup


Q. I am getting an error like '(3077 Mage Bytes)' or '(2048 Mage Bytes)', what do I do?
Hard drive space, get some. Your hard drive is nearly full and the game needs more room to install before it continues.

Any plans on updating the client version to Ch 5 anytime soon? Currently the "current" client download is 4.08 over at http://us.runesofmagic.com/us/downloads,client,us.html with the link of http://download.frogster.de/RoM/Clients/…506_full_us.exe Usually with big updates like this, writing errors tends to happen more often, even when the game will launch correctly & such but stuff inside the game data might be corrupted...specifically textures =/

I posted this in a differnent thread, but i'm thinking that this thread would be a better place for my problem/question. Well, In short, for some reason, whenever i tried going through the patches for chapter 5, I got a pop up window saying "access has been denied" after every patch, but it still continued to patch. Once finish patching, i tried logging in, and it said "client version is different from server's version." I uninstalled rom and reinstalled it, turned off my firewall, and after every patch (even on manual patching) I still got the "access denied" pop up window. I've spent all day trying to figure out how to fix this and looking it up to see if there's an answer to my problem (although it seems like some people are having similar problems as me).

What baffles me, my laptop went through the same patches as my main computer. My main computer is many times better than my laptop in the sense of performance, but i'm able to play rom on my laptop after all of those patches ( and i didn't get those "access denied" pop ups). I'm at a loss, and i do not know what to do. I'm using Windows 7 and my computer is very up to date, if anyone can help, it'll be very appreciated.

This appears to be a permissions problem that you're having with the manual patches and your Win7 installation. If you're playing RoM on a local Win7 account that is not an Administrator account, then you may be limited to the software and updates that the local account is allowed to install.

However, since you already have a working game installation on one computer, you can copy all of the main Runes of Magic game folder from that computer to the one having the issues. Do this either across your LAN or use a USB thumb drive.

It's possible that one or more of the manual patches you downloaded was corrupted during the transfer. Delete the offending patch(es), redownload, and then repatch.

Hey, I'm having problems with the new patch that came out today, 5.0.0.2539. Whenever it through the auto patching, a window popped up saying "system cannot find the file specified". I tried manually downloading the patch and I still get the same problem. Are there any suggestions of what to do?

Aye, after I downloaded the patch, i copied it to my main rom folder (just as I did for the previous patches) then i clicked "run", the patch went through it's routine "blue bar" updating but whenever it gets to 50%, it says "Rollback the updated file..." then the window "system cannot find the file specified" pops up. As for my laptop (which also went through the patch) works just fine. I looked at the Rom folder on my laptop and compared it to the other computer and both had exactly the same files on it except the computer that i'm having problems with rom has the patches on it because of manual patching (only the 4 recent ones including the current one). however, if i try running those patches as well, i get the same problem as with the one today. I do not recall touching anything in my rom folder since yesterday (for it worked fine yesterday before the patch). Right now i'm going to try to put rom onto a thumb drive off of my laptop and see if that works.

omgg *_* i remember when about 6 months ago i downloaded it and the patches was taking like too long ... so i deleted the game when i had to get like 3 patches left but i didn't even kno :( .....
