#1, make sure you put the patches in your game installation folder. Not your download folder. Your installation folder is:

By default 32bit OS: c:\program files\runes of magic
By default 64bit OS: c:\program files (x86)\runes of magic

#2, make sure the game/launcher is not running.

#3, execute the files from the installation folder (mentioned above) in order from lowest to highest consecutively, not concurrently.

#4, once all 3 patches have been applied, you may restart the game and let it continue to autopatch normally. The last patch is a big one, over 300MB, so it will take about 20-30 min on a good 10Mb connection.

Ok, so, I download the game and let it install,
then do not launch the game at that time but instead run the patches?
then launch the game to auto patch from there?
Because once i stop the auto patching i have to start the set up process all over again, because the game launcher icon on the desktop will not work, the message i got was that it had been changed or moved, and did i want to delete it

Ok, so, I download the game and let it install, Check!
then do not launch the game at that time but instead run the patches? Fail!
then launch the game to auto patch from there? Check!

If, when you start the game after installing, you get an error, then you stop the launcher, and apply a manual patch. Which ever one may be needed at that point, patches must be installed consecutively. You cannot miss or skip a patch. You may go back and reinstall an older patch when needed, but you then again need to reinstal all the patches after it to play again.

If you get an error, like the 2010_2028 issue, you then make sure the game and launcher are not running, apply the patches as instructed and then you may restart the game/launcher to let it continue on.

when you installed the game, it asked you where you wanted to install it. By default, that would be as described above:
By default 32bit OS: c:\program files\runes of magic
By default 64bit OS: c:\program files (x86)\runes of magic

If niether of these folders exist, you installed the game somewhere else and that is where you place the manual patches.

if you cant find the folder, find the game icon on your desktop, look at its properties by right clicking on it. find where the shortcut goes.

Toasted Game path

It appears that the auto loader toasted the game path. Mr. Senior Leader failed to notice that we type nothing. Up until this download the client did all the work; downloaded and installed automatically. Then "Pow" the path is suddenly wrong. You've got a bug buddy.

lol, I don't work for Frogster. I and they know of the bug, happened after a patch last week, a fix is being worked on by the devs. The workaround the community came up with is linked in my sig.

The following is downloaded into the AppData\Local\Temp\Directory: patch_2.1.5.2028.en_2.1.5.2036.exe. It expands to data.fdb.ispaniaData, interface.fdb.IspaniaData, other.exe, and ROM-GameSettings.ini. The game path in the ini file is correct. The installer then generates the message box "Windows cannot find '\other.exe'. make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." WE TYPE NOTHING. This is automatic.

yes, as I said, I and they know the bug exists, it just hasn't been fixed yet, it will be fixed most likely on the next server patch. Applying the patches manually, is the workaround.

p.s. Coffee is the root of all evil :D

Update Failures

This is a copy of an email sent back to the US Support team. This may help others, if they come across similar problems, with their fresh installs.
After reading the start of this thread, I suppose it would be more of a simplified task to download each patch manually and install as needed.
If this is not appropriate, by all means, remove and/or edit this post as desired.

I downloaded "Setup: File 1" and "File 2".
I placed these files in the same folder.
I ran "Setup File 1" which installed RoM.
I ran the RoM shortcut on my desktop.
This proceeded to update the game files as needed.
Once the update procedure got to patch_2.1.5.2010.en_2.1.5.2028.en.exe it failed(repeatedly).
I went to the folder on my HDD located at C:\Documents and Settings\Jon\Local Settings\Temp and found the update file.

Once the RoM client said it was done downloading the update I proceeded to copy the file(patch_2.1.5.2010.en_2.1.5.2028.en.exe) to my desktop. After the client failed to update properly, i closed the RoM client application. I manually ran the update file that the client downloaded and the update worked.
The same problem occurred with the update from 2.1.5.2028.en to 2.1.5.2036.en.
I fixed that problem in the same manner as the previous one.

The only caveat to your directions is the 'how to install rom' part. You downloaded your installation files from the EU website, not the US version. Nothing really different about them, except how they are packaged. the US offers the FOGdownloader and 7 part versions. the EU offers the FOGdownloader and a 2 part version. Any of the 3 will install the game the same way. The only issue atm that is repeatable is the bug in the 2010_2028 patch that on occasion, travels onto the follow patch or 2, with errors on other.exe. Hence my sig explaining how to fix both and why I suggest up front to install all 3 files not just the 2010_2028 file so you dont get the other.exe error. Saves headaches, especially mine :D

Other than that, what ya got, works.

You have 80kb pipe? Well I have a 20meg pipe-

And I'm on "day two".
This is the most ridiculous game installation I have personally undergone.
After all this- I'm praying it isn't lame.
They need to stop developing new content and "all hands" fix this crummy installation situation.
I downloaded 5 gigs to download and now "unknown gigs more" updates?
You people are high!
Tell me why the gigs more updates aren't folded into the original download?
Taking days to install a video game- are you freaking kidding me?
I have a huge pipe in- (20megs down at least 3megs up) running on an Intel Quad core and I can download and install Modern Warfare 2 and Mass Effect 2 and play them in a few minutes- but this game takes days.
Terribly ridiculous is an understatement.
So to answer your question mate- with the 80kb dl speed- gonna take you a month to install (my best times on this server is 1600kb/s and i'm frustrated- I imagine your wait is gonna make mine look .... ah never mind).
