Staying online with more then 1 client

Ever since I started playing this game I have always been able to use more then one client at a time. But this last patch I now have issues.

I use two game folders. One folder I call my main game, it has high GFX, lots of addons and Sound effects. On my 2nd game folder I have a client with minimum gfx, no sound, minimum addons like auto ride.

Main folder is for Main toons, other folder is for alts. In the past I could log in both. Since patch patch 6.4.2.2754 I can not longer keep both clients online together for long. Some times I get 5-10 minutes then one or all will get massively high ping and go offline, or When I attempt to log in my second game folders client my mains client(s) will all get high ping then go offline and vice-versa.

So far if all clients I start are from the same game folder I don't have problems. The problems start when I try log in clients from seperate folders.

How old is your hard drive? It may be an issue where your drive performance is tanking and can't load the game from two locations as well as it could before.

I haven't really experienced it consistently to think it was something with the patch. I would randomly get booted to login on multiple toons, usually during siege. Other times seem to be ok for the most part.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Maybe your client degraded too much.

I have that problem as well but it's random as well as random dc's but it doesn't happen so soon. Though my clients are on all different HDD's, Check the resources you're using with both open and compare to how much resources you have.

Can also try installing 2nd client on a different hdd if you have one as well as re download the client as over time with patch you can get degradation. hdd tanking can also be a problem, lots of things to try to reduce or eliminate the issue.

PC is decent enough, i7 5960, 64gb ram, 4 SSDs in Raid-0. And its all fairly new. I think I found my problem. My virus checker "Trendmicro" seems to have been applying security rules to the game folder cause they were C:\ROM1 C:\ROM2 etc.. I contacted them and sent logs and was told that any folder directly off C:\ has tighter rules then those in C:\Game\ROM1 for example.
I moved all game folders to C:\Game\ and has a few hickups cause of patching issue for the above security blar blar. So with new knowledge in hand i reinstall fresh once again into the C:\Game and patching went without a hitch, and im back to loggin in using clients from different folders..

Unless, I'm missing something, why are you keeping 2 copies of your client. I mean they are the Same FDB, and you could just use an addon to modify the graphics setting, if you aren't going to be using one a whole lot...

ftwoplay, what addon it would be?

I also have two copies for 2 graphics and sound settings. Plenty of space on hdd's so this is not a problem, but it's getting annoying to keep addons in sync. :(

However, OP mentioned 2 different sets of addons: for this you do need two copies of rom folder, right?

Now, I don't use it myself, but I did a while ago, and some people can't live without it. I BELIEVE its called Autotune. And if use it correctly, it will make your life easy. Once, again if graphics settings are your only qualm... then this addon should fix most of that, so only 1 copy of RoM will be needed. As a heads up the addon makes load screens about... 3 seconds long.
