[Survey] Website Revamp

Which sample do you prefer?

A total of 63 Votes have been submitted.

59%

Dark Version (37)

41%

Light Version (26)

Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,

Our web development team has been working secretly on a new and shiny website for Runes of Magic. Our goal is to have a much cleaner, easier to navigate and state of the art website. Additionally, the new design and layout allows a lot more freedom and options to implement additional features.

We're now at a point were we'd like to ask you -our community- to vote on one of two upcoming matters, helping us with the final decision. The results will be taken into our final discussions.

Please check out the images below and let us know in the poll whether you prefer the "dark version" or the "light version".

The survey will be closed on Wednesday, around 15:00 CET/6:00 am PST. On Wednesday we will also launch another survey about a different topic involving our upcoming website revamp.

Thanks for your time and effort!

Images don't work for me - when I try clicking them I get taken to the EU forums and I get this message in germen:

Thanks for reporting this. I've just fixed the links! They should work fine now, although the preview text is in German *_*.

two reasons supporting the light version

1-light enviornments helps the human brain to be more alert and process information better. (I can use all the help I can get:D)

2-it is easier to turn down the brightness on the light, avoiding whiteout, than up the brightness on the dark, aiding in seeing content, due to how most monitors are usually set to 80-100% brightness anyways.

I have to go with the dark one for the purpose of saving energy. :)

"Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen."

I voted dark - I just like dark themes with the way they look.

Dark. Definitely dark. It shows the texture better, is more readable due to contrast, and the light one looks... almost pink. Bleh.

Edit: Remember, we'll likely be looking at this for the next 3 years, so don't vote pink. ;)

Sorry, had to cancel out your dark vote with a light vote. The lighter scheme is easier on the eyes, especially old ones like mine. :p

Ditto. Some of us old geezers need all the help we can get. Light side rocks.

Yeah!!! What he said! Some of my favorite things in life (many of which I should definitely NOT mention on this forum) are very much pink. :p

Really? Visual bombardment from high-frequencies is easier on the eyes? Strange, because the dark one is much easier for me to read. Just go down into your man cave, turn all the lights down low, and you're ready for some seriously intense forum posting (or zombie-killing, whichever you prefer :D).

I like pink too. I just don't think it's in the mood. Whatever is chosen, it's not like I'll ragequit over a color. I just like rich brown forums over peachy pink forums.

The dark one is easier to see in a dark room, for me at least.

White text has always been a faux pas in web development because often people have colors and such turned off or customized in a certain way on their end making white text invisible or hard to read. This is, however, a very antiquated thought on things and it's almost 2012, so we can probably ignore it. That said, the light version was kind of hard to read because the contrast isn't very good, so dark version it is. If the light version background was a bit more "light" then it'd be perfect.

Honestly, i'm pretty neutral. I think both of them would look great. But i voted for dark cause i like that one just a smidge better.

I voted light. The darker version is actually straining my eyes while trying to read the lighter text.
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.
