Thanks for all the information. I may give the game another chance but, I still am having trouble with having to level 2 classes rather than 1 in order to achieve what I want from the game.

Yeah I notice the swap button after a little research once I needed to swap gear. I "still" need 2 sets of gear but this does make life a little easier.

3 classes? Interesting...

Just a little hint, you can accept a quest on one class and turn it in on another if it is up to 10 levels above your current class.

Don't forget to do your Daily Quests (Blue Exclamation Marks), they give you much needed EXP/TP and Phirus Tokens.

While you do need multiple sets of armor and weapons, it isn't necessary unless you want to play all of your classes. Generally, as players level, they move towards using one primary class more often and put some gear on it before their other classes.

If you play the game right, you will NEVER have to grind mobs. Keep your eyes open for bonus EXP/TP events. They happen about once a month, sometimes more or less.

Think of it this way......if you make a character and level it up to say 50ish and don't like the way it's going what would you do in a single class game? Make a whole new character and start over right? With the two class system you have another option. Once you reach 30/30 you get the third class and another chance to be happy with this one toon.

I understand the different gear types being a drag but instead of changing characters to be a different class, you just switch classes.:)
I reject your reality and choose my own instead!

OP, much of what you say points towards your lack of understanding about how this game works. It's not your fault, few new players would be any clearer at your level.

Very many of us (but not everyone) don't bother gearing or playing 2nd &/or 3rd classes.

We level them using our main class, swapping only for hand-ins.

The 2nd &/or 3rd classes are more about the skills they bring to your main class, particularly the elite skills.

I do hope you give the game a little longer because I believe it to be one of the best games out there but it does take a while to understand how it works.

my rogue and scout use the same gear...

priest/mage/druid can also share gear depending on how its stated and class build

honestly pretty much everyone just has a main class and the secondary is just for skills, my lv 61 knight has like unstated/tiered 55 hos junk because it's just a secondary to me I could care less of his gear.

Not me, i gear em and play em. all three. my warr can wear most of my wardens gear as i havent gone full plate yet and my mage has his own set. what else have i got to do now that main is 70.?

but yea, stick it out a while longer. the class system is what adds so much variety to this game.

we have a priest mage in my guild, lvl capped on both classes, who depending on what we are doing will be either priest or mage. either one is a beast. i cant tell wich class hes on usually. he does mega damage and heals nicely on mage. really the only need for him to switch to priest primary is for rez ability.

What makes 2 class (or we should call it 3 class) game more interesting is elite skill sets, where depending on your class choices (primary and secondary) you will develop special unique skills for that class combination.

Here are lists of K/P and P/K elites.

Those are obtainable once you level both classes to 15, 20 etc. levels, and you can get them 2 different ways. First is getting required mats to NPC, getting certificate and then learning skill. Second way is doing old bags quests in CoO/Xaviera (much easier).

Mostly, everyone levels both classes to 50 to get all elites, then leveling your main to level cap. (on the way there :)) Later you either level your secondary with some quests that are left, or you level it with dailies. (very slow process)

I can't remember last time I switched to rogue (have only quest gear on it) and I started like knight, but did not like tanking much... I rather burn and slice mobs. :D

I dont see the two sets of gear being a problem. One class combo should be your main focus. Do you want to tank, or heal? Gear your healer or tank and leave quest gear to the other side to level. The 3rd class brings in problems because 1. There isnt a 3rd gear swap, and 2. It has 6 different combos. It was cool at first, but I dont even use my 3rd class, Id rather make a new toon.

The dual class system is what makes this game unique. Changing the way it works so that you only have to level your primary class, and your secondary just follows, would not only be boring, but it would make the game total ezmode. You don't -have- to play your secondary class. You can level it completely through dailies if you really don't like the priest side. I know for certain combos on my alts, I refused to level the swap side (for ones I leveled before the tri-class system emerged), simply because the secondary classes were so awful.

And most people won't gear every class they have on a character. It's very costly to do at 55+. Low level gear is not only easy to get, it's cheap, so if you really want to play your secondary, getting gear for it shouldn't be an issue. It sounds, however, that you don't want to play it. So don't. It's really not that complicated.

I've talked to guildies about this very thing. I LOVE the dual-class, and all of the depth and versatility it allows. However, it often feels like I'm changing characters, when it should ideally feel like I'm smoothly adjusting to a different role. I often feel like my character has a mental disorder, and it affects me. I sometimes even refer to my female characters as male, or vice versa, depending on the classes involved, and I've known quite a few others to do the same. In my opinion, multi class in RoM just doesn't go quite far enough. It's like they had a good idea, but were too conservative with its implementation. Some basic changes I would make:

1. We should be able to change class anywhere, but maybe not during combat in PvP.
2. We should be able to wear one set of gear on all classes, and attributes should be standardized across all classes.
3. Every class and combo should have some type of item to equip in each equipment slot.

There are more, but that's what I can think of at the moment. I'd just like the multi-class system to have the feel of multi class. Especially since the third class came, I may as well play another character, because there aren't enough quests to level all three classes anyway. I see the third class as an optional secondary, not as a third class, and it's not really multi-class, it just allows people to say, "Don't QQ about your DPS when you can choose a DPS class for third." It tends to take away the uniqueness of a particular class combo. Don't get me wrong; I like it. I just don't think it's all it should be. But then, that describes pretty much every other aspect of the game too.

I have to disagree with that sentiment to an extent; depending on your class (well not really) you won't have tp enough to level all your skills that you may want to level so you might get stuck grinding tp off mobs. I know you're talking about experience exclusively, but TP is important too.

@FP just a few pointers.
there are three zones in which u can lvl up from 1-50, and quest will give you gear that u can choose for your class as well.
you choose the combo class you like best to be your secondary.
when u're bored of the two class combo u've chosen.
This is where your third class choice come in to play, rather then having to start a whole new character. Pick ur third class and you can switch between 6 class combo, as many have mention.

The first reason is gear. All class combos suffer from this. The reason is you need 2 sets of gear. While some class combos might be able to wear leather/leather they still suffer from level restrictions. One combo I tried was K/P and when leveling the Priest secondary I needed to drop my current chain and 2 handed weapon for level 1 cloth and a stick.

While this isn't bad at level 1-10 I can see it being a problem when I want to tank and need to level my secondary Priest at level 45 in cloth with a stick. I want a Pally I don't want to level a cloth class. Why should I have to have 2 sets of gear? Sure some people may want to have heal and tank gear but, some people don't.

You do not need to have 2 sets of gear.
You can play your Knight, and level your priest class through daily quests.
Do the daily quests as a Knight and turn them as a priest.
I hardly switch my classes + gear to level my secondary class.

Quoted from "FoulPet;500187"

I feel gimped leveling both the primary and the secondary. I feel I am leveling 2 separate toons. Why be a level 10/10 K/P when I could be a level 16 Pally? I can wear plate and heal without needed to go a a frickin npc to swap classes. This should be an out of combat option.

You have had a taste of RoM and you do not like the way the game is played. That is justifiable.
To be blunt, if you read about the game, it did say about multiclassing so despite your dislike for the game, you did go into this game with both eyes open and that it did differ from the game you are used to.

Quoted from "FoulPet;500187"

Sooo my point is I would rather play "1" class that is what it is. A Pally is a Knight/Priest so why do I need to level a knight then a priest? This game wouldn't be so bad if I could split my XP. If I wanted to level Knight more I could split my XP 70/30 or if I wanted to heal more I could level 40/60. I hate going back to the same zone and leveling on the same spiders and bats.

The only up side is waiting to turn in all quests in after swapping classes then leveling your secondary with quest XP but, I see this option going away or slowing down at higher levels.

Based on current game setup, you cannot have both ways.
You can either have 2+ classes that have 2 sets of different gear or similar gear, and level each class as seperate entities or do the dailies.

Hope you stay, it is a good game if you are willing to stay a bit longer to enjoy the guilds, the quests, the players, and the monsters.

RoM has it own merits in itself that millions have found on their own.

if you do decide to give RoM another whack, whiale playing p/k or k/p, i'd suggest get 20/20 and grab mage for your third class. not a 'telling you what to do' thing, but:

if you pick up mage, you can roll it through coast of opportunity and get it to 50. go back to everything else, such as the chain from howling mountain through dust devil and sascilia through dragonfang. mage compliments your priest side by allowing you to deal damage better if you pick up a staff and uses cloth as well, so it'll be easier on your priest when it hits 50.

mage compliments knight giving you AoE ability with reduced damage, fireball and lightning to deal extra damage and root (lightning) enemies in place if you get overwhelmed.

you could go the same way with scout too, though -I- preferred mage.

then when you get your classes even, you have two sets of gear: a cloth healing set to be a healer with p/k, a plate set to play with if you take some to play in k/x. m/p can still do plenty of questing damage in healer gear if you ever decide to go play on mage. p/m is about the ultimate soloing class, there's a lot of epic win you can perform in that class setup. m/k can be fun too, lots of insta casts, high defense, it's a load of fun in pvp. k/p has its interesting points for tanking as well.

the beginning of the leveling path really does suck in this game, it's something to get past. and leveling three classes to cap is horrid, i'm less than half way through 69 on knight atm, and as you see in the sig, mage is still 67. but it's a ton of fun being able to do what i can do with my different class combos P:
