PvP

I made an account on a PvP Server today for the first time, and it sucks. Honestly, there's no difference except the player drops.
1: You should either make the PvP Servers 'PvP-always', where anyone can kill anyone anytime, or. . .
2: You should shut down the PvP servers and make a PvP-only-zone. Anyone who enters could be killed by anyone else in it.
I know most people on PvP servers think that it's a let-down, including me.

I don't play on a PVP server, but I can comment on PVP itself in rom thanks to duels and siege.

Given that Runes of Magic is a gear modification game above everything else (although the class systems offer a fair bit of diversification in terms of gameplay), I suspect the developers didn't want to listen to a massive amount of people crying about losing gear when they were simply trying to access their mailbox or use their bank account.

Whether the server populations on the PVP servers are low because of the current setup or just because ROM doesn't attract that many PVP'ers, I'm not certain. I do know that both of your suggestions have been mentioned a lot here, and neither has come to fruition. I would, instead of getting rid of the PVP servers and adding a single zone, add a server that has the conditions you listed. That way anyone who wishes a PVP environment all the time would have the option for it.
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

u fail to notice the benifit of pk trading on pvp servers. where u can trade/sell gear without needing an abl, that to me is the biggest advantage of pvp server. not to mention since we pvp a lot we have a bit of a strategic advantage in siege against pve servers although they have the gear advantage. as on pve servers they all work together vs pvp where it is mostly everyone for themselves.

PVP == PVE in gear.

That has been debunked a long time ago.

Maybe on Indigo you don't have the same gear.

But on Grimdal, it's a different story.

PVP on both of the PVP servers died a long time ago.

Population decrease as well as one shotting people got boring.

true the ability to get gear is the same. but due to the ganking before white rule change, the power level of pvp to pve servers differed bcuz u couldnt keep a full set. we are catching up though.

Um... it IS like this... you can get merc'd anywhere, at anytime other than a private house. You can take a knife at the bank, the AH, at a mailbox, while you're afk in some obscure location where no one usually traffics... hell, you can even drop group in the middle of an instance and kill your teammates before you get ported out... once you reach level 15, it's no-holds-bard

2: You should shut down the PvP servers and make a PvP-only-zone. Anyone who enters could be killed by anyone else in it.

Why would you shut down PvP servers to make pvp only zones, when all zones are pvp zones? That's basically gimping pvp servers even further...

I like my PvP server the way it is. If someone is making me angry, I merc him. I don't cry about the fact that if he's white he doesn't drop loot, that's just being greedy. It's enough for me to chase him away or make him rage log because he can't finish what it was he was doing before he came into my world.

That isn't true.

Not once have I dropped anything more expensive then a stack of Mysterious Items.

End-gamers will NEVER drop expensive gear.

Exactly. You wouldnt. but the new guy who is working his way up and needs both of those vahtos earrings to keep progressing to hope to ever see 55 did.

I got one hit in silverfall by a rogue and both of the vahtos earrings dropped. both plussed as that was all i understood about gear mod at the time being only lvl 30. the toon that looted them immediatly logged off. never saw that toon nor my earrings again.

but u are right, End gamers never drop.

If you cant hit 55 because someone took two of your earrings, you are doing it wrong. Come to Grimdal and pst me (alt+0222)wnkill and I will dirty dod stat some stuff for you to hit 55 with. I have gotten literally dozens of toons, almost every class combo, to at least 55, and I have never used a vahtos piece, I sell them as soon as they are in my bag.

OP,

You can't drop on pvp servers unless your +30 or -30 rep (blue or yellow). And no it is not a letdown. Pvp servers are for people who want to pvp, that’s why they chose to be on that server. Furthermore, pk trading is the best thing ever.

The funny thing is, everyone loves pvp. Thats why siege is so popular. So here is the checklist.
1. Get rid of gear dropping. Give gold or Honor points (Based on levels etc)
2a. Make all servers pvp, but give people a skill that allow them to be un pk-able. Obviously they cant initiate pk either. OBVIOUSLY you would need to prevent people from taking it off and pking someone right away.
2b. As stated in OP, make a pvp zone.
3. Penalize lowbie gankers HARD for doing it.
Other than that, pvp will never be a part of this game other than siege.

Uh... no. The reason most people do siege is for the rewards, not because they like to PvP. I guarantee that if there were no guild badges from siege, then siege signups would not be closed 2 secs after register opens.

+1000 BEST IDEA EVER!

Get rid of badges so that the PVE nerds won't keep leeching badges to kill brainless pixel monsters and the ones that have fun with a PVP challenge can finally have proper siege wars. No more mercs. Less hackers/exploiters (that'll never completely disappear). More FUN for siege.
