Owenstein & Eve - the dead horse beating

Any word on them yet? We were promised that they are being reworked so they can be implemented into the game.

I sure hope this doesn't turn into another debacle along the lines of diamonds in the AH........

They won't be coming back  they said they were pulling Owen cause people where exploiting him (highly doubt that) and to discuss what he would offer (highly doubt it too). It doesn't take near 2 Months to work on 1 npc not to mention Eve ...Educated people already know exactly what and why Owen/Eve are gone and why they won't be coming back.

I also now doubt that Owen will be back. Once again what we were told is completely different to what actually happened.

Easiest way to avoid beating a dead horse is to cremate/bury it. I'm all for Owen and Eve coming back into the game as soon as possible, even despite the exploits.

I think the "exploiting" of Owenstein was likely players buying certain offered items on five accounts everyday. You figure, he's up for a week, right, so you can buy a maximum of 7 items, times 5 accounts, means a person could theoretically have acquired 35 puris for 27 million. At normal diamond and CS prices, that would normally cost $55.55. Puris are not tradeable, but mana stones ARE. Whether they were made into clean stones, or Crimson stats, they were both tradeable and sellable. I didn't do this, because I needed the puris themselves, but people with plenty of gold and plenty of time could easily take advantage of the system.

Besides, even though we gave Swag a hard time, at least he cared about the community. If the community told him inflation was a problem (diamond/gold exchange went up over 500%), he did something. It was kind of too little too late, but he did start getting gold buyers banned, and tried to keep us informed. When that wasn't enough, he got Owenstein put in as a placebo, which kind of made everything better until inflation finally stabilized. At least he tried to understand us, and did the best he could to address our concerns.

Should be brought back as a bound golden egg seller. The current golden egg system only rewards those who bot. My pet is level 47, and the XP needed is absurd. Sorry but I'm not buying 1k XP CS pots at 45 diamonds per.

While we're making requests to kill bots can we make the inferno guard dogs insanely powerful. I see the same "people" there day in and out.

Bah... That's all I got, bots are killing me, I know it will never be stopped but oh well I can dream.

I wouldn't expect these guys to come back.

They took Eve away to fix her...only to come out with the runes you could make through her in the CS. That was a horrible move, imo, as I know a lot of people were really happy that there were useful runes that could be crafted instead of bought. Still, though, it does explain why she was removed. Just sad that they had to lie to us in order to do so.

Owenstein...not really sure what their issue was with him, but considering how it's becoming more common for things to be taken away, with a promise they'll be back, only to never see them again...I wouldn't hold out on his return. He was a really good idea; maybe not grand enough to save the economy, but it did help, and it helped f2p players, in a time when it's ridiculously hard (almost impossible) to get to endgame completely f2p. Sad that this one was ninja-removed too.

dead horse beating about these guys? I'll bring my sledgehammer... too far?

but really I liked getting told 'they'll be back soon' over and over as weeks become months.

though that horrible 5 week sale reduced the price of diamonds/AH prices so thats good enough for me

What its been about 8 months when eve was introduced with chapter 4....
Simple answer Eve cuts into their bottom line. They wont make any money selling those V+ runes on CS if eve is ingame simple fact.

As for Owenstein it was to good to be true, maybe they will bring him back as a special guest every now and then like the other 4 buff npc's in Varanas.

Either way I dont really care bacause all i do is help my guildies doing runs and quests. I have enough cs items for a for a few upgrades, i will be wearing the same clothes till the next chapter.... so WTB Laundry service!

It's not the game with light saber any more???

No, staff like this does not mean end of the world in RoM, but it does mean that majority of population is less happy then what they might be if things are run the way we all hope for.

We all loved sales from owen, sure, but not all of them. There were weeks I would not spend any gold on him.

If owen is not back, please create NPC that sells golden eggs. It's not CS item, and I (and everyone else) don't like to farm something like that, creating living bot. Please do something about it.... (ps. my pet is hungry :))

Not everyone who plays this game was waiting for just another P2P game that charged them for time they weren't using... some of us enjoy F2P games because we can choose what to spend our money on, hence why GW2.

Second that truth, its why I am playing froggy's other game thats still in beta. GW2 is just taking so dang long :/

I will still play RoM just wont be supporting it financially as i was before. Unless things change drastically of course.
