Level cap progression

Hi. I am a fairly new player (joined in December) and I had a quick point of interest. I was trying to match up the Chapters with the level caps, but it isn't adding up for me. I know we are in Ch.4, but from my count we had 7 level caps (50, 55, 58, 60, 65, 67 and 70). Did they raise the level caps in the middle of some of the chapters? And if so, could we expect to have a level cap raise sometime soon?

Sorry for the newbie curiousity :o

Those are not quite the right numbers. Ch 3 ended with limo and L62 cap. There was no L65 cap as Ch4 initial release was 2 high-level zones - LOM which took you from 62 to 65 and Redhill that took you from 65 to 67.

But the general idea is right; there are mid-chapter level cap raises that happen when new zone is added. In Ch3 it happened couple times, in Ch4 once so far.

Will we get another zone and another level cap raise in CH4? Nobody knows. Ch3 was supposed to end at L60, but they decided to put limo release into Ch3 and that made the Ch3 cap to be L62; likewise, they are officially supposed to end Ch4 at L70, but I would not be surprised if we get another zone before Ch5. Gear with L72 and L75 requirements is already in runesdabase, so that means it is in ROM's database. They might decide to release L72 zone before Ch5 or they might not.

Will it happen soon if it happens at all? No. We had TB released not that long ago, so L70 is relatively recent. Thematically the chapter is not complete, since Sismond is the main baddie in CH4 and has not been dealt with. But, then thematically CH3 was not complete either, so RW doesn't seem to be obligated to close the storylines at the end of chapters.

I agree with wiffo. I started when the Elves were released and the cap was still 55 when they were fiorst reelased. Once they released Thunderhoof Hills and the towm of Dalagis (I purposefully spelled it wrong), the cap went to 60 if I am not mistaken. When SJF came around there was another lvl cap raise. Not sure if they ahd one when NJF was released, but when Limo was released there was. I have found where one of runewakers workers has said there will be another lvl cap raise soon (an obscure press release or a blog cannot remember) but I really do not see that until at least March if not later. Personaly though they should fix some of the bugs/glitches/broken quests that exist now instead of attempting to do them when they do raise the lvl cap. Too much is broken and needs fixing now, not later.

I really hope not, but knowing the way RoM has always been there will most likely be another level cap increase before the next chapter. Personally I think the game should have stayed with the lvl 50 cap...everything was so much more balanced back then. :/

But.... now I am confused... I could have sworn I saw the True Dragon kill Sismond during one of the "cutscenes" they do for the quests sometimes. It happened right over by where the Sismond Watcher mobs spawn. I saw it on two different toons that I got to the cap. Did I miss something? Did he escape the dragons fiery breath? NOW I AM EXCITED AGAIN! I felt kinda ripped off seeing him die without having had a chance to fight him.

I don't believe he was killed. Sure, the game set up the next BBEG, the guy who was intriguing me since I saw him in HoDL, as the likely focus of Ch5. But, as I recall Sismond did not really go down, even being smacked by a dragon. Would be way too easy. I think we will see him again.

I recently got a lvl 71 sword in Tergothen Bay. It was a green and even though I play a mage it intrigued me. Seems more and more higher lvl drops are starting to fall out of the sky. Also a week ago someone had stuck a lvl 72 staff in the AH.

NO we do not need another level cap to go further for anybodys sake. I mean come on!, What this game NEEDS is more instances between 40 and 65. A lot of people quit this game because of how hard it is to level past lvl 50. We all know its not that hard, but seems people cant figure it out. But what do they have to look forward to? a Hos/DL/ZS run by OP lvl 70 guys, that takes less than an hour to run through, and they get gear. WOW thats so fun for people, DOD over and over and over... RT finally comes into play which was fun, until you start farmin it like dod. KT is boring as hell. THE game doesnt really get interesting until gc/sc.
There needs to be more options between 40-65. More fun for those people. You cant cater to the endgamers constantly.. yea i know they spend the most money. But were all very content right now and will be for a while with TOSH. But coming out with higher caps more stats, gear etc. Just further puts the distance between endgamers and casual players. Lets stop adding more and more to this game, lets take what we got......and make it BETTER! Add more world events, instances, hell even some more fun quest lines like the magical reconstruction line..

Some people complain that these days, endgame is too easy to attain... while others complain it's impossible. Some people like to quest, and others use reset tickets assiduously to avoid having to quest at all.

This is a gear-modification game, free-to-play but pay-to-win, and as such, we're always going to run into the brick wall of new content and being forced to regear. That's how both Frogster and Runewaker make their money, so it's in their best interest to keep us on a gear-treadmill.

They have to try and find a balance that keeps everyone happy, from the quest-happy altoholic to the spend-happy "I soloed GCH" dude. Phirius shell gear is one way they did that, and the TB events are another way. You can gear and stat yourself for almost-endgame without ever setting foot in an instance. Mementos farmed from easy instances smooth the way for both groups.

God knows that I whine and complain about Frogster/Runewaker enough, but they really have tried to find a happy medium in PvE play. Basic necessities like puris and plussing stones are still too rarely on sale, and costs are too high, but they really have tried to make the game fun and approachable for everyone.

My biggest wish is that they would take a breather from releasing new content for one reason only: they need to fix some of the bugs we have tolerated forever and also desperately need to balance and improve PvP play, especially Siege war. So many players, endgame and not-yet-endgame, play because of Siege, and I think they would see an improved revenue stream simply because so many would be willing to spend some cash if Siege was really fixed.

Getting to endgame is easy (refering to achieving lvl 70) , but be geared to run endgame is different story

Hmmm, if he can survive the breath of a True Dragon, I am REALLY looking forward to fighting him now, lol. I can't wait to see where the story line takes us with that other NPC either, we were sort of left hanging with him after the conversation we overheard when we killed Sirloth :D

The Dragon breathes and so he laughs and ports away. You can also see on the database that they have added the Old Kingdom of Rozaran or something like that and that they talk about this place and the new places on http://rom.onlinewelten.com/news.php?catid=62
