I remember the days before Advanced Bind Lifters, when if you wanted good gear you had to farm it and build it, and you painfully sold your cast-off gear ... to the vendor ... runes and all.

That was before my time, or at least before I even knew what an ABL was, but that sounds awesome. They should make it that way again! Get more people doing instances instead of just log in for siege, logout after :(

In the beginning we used wrist attack rotations on DoD no. 1 because we couldn't take the full hit from chaos sound wave.

Damb good idea... *hangs head in shame for not thinking of that*

Back when level cap was still 55, Realmguardians could put 3 full raids in HoDL and they would all win. Fun times.

Reminds me of another thing I remember... first time I saw an RG member, outside of KS, under water (probably AFK). I remember thinking, "damb, that guys is so awesome, he isn't even affraid of drowning" -- that was back when I assumed if you stayed underwater too long, you would die. Also the first time RG helped me finish my quests in Origin, and the first time an RG member left at HoDL last boss because they didn't want to be part of "glitching" people through the portal. Yah, I miss the RG days, and the days of players like that.

Oh, and back then, the forums weren't overrun with trolls and you could read just about any thread and find at least something useful. Men were men and children were a few.

IDK about that, maybe in BETA or something... even in Dec 2009 the forums were pretty much the worst part of the game, luckily not a required part.

Best part of the game was back in ch1 trying to do TT. Most priests and mages would get 1 shot by the assasins. I take my hat off to my pocket healer tho, 1 of 2 priests on the server that could take 2 assasins on. And i still shake my head at lazy healers ( insert name ) who had the best gear in game but refused to tier/stat it and always got 1 shot. Good times

I thought since there is alot of QQing and rants about siege, I'd make a thread on what you remember most about being lower level. For me, it would be constant deaths by Borrofar (ninja bear). Then trying to hunt him down for the quest and never finding him. Tell me everyone, what is your memories of lower level content (lvl 1-50)

Clever! Yeah, that danged mangy bear!! I swear, every time I went around a hill or rise, there he was just waiting for me! After the first couple dozen ambushes I really started taking it personally! ;)

hmm i remember when i was a newbie 2 years ago in salscia steppes dieng from mobs. Then some came a m/p that helped me with those and all quests in steppes to kill those elite kites others and gave me 500k gold and i was like omg this much gold O.O what to do with this and he sent me some upgraded fa gears +sed and stated shield weapons free and i still see him now few of the rarest good ppl ever i met in game.

Before i get there i waited long time to run clops since i was lvl 1 and when i reached 52 clops was closed-.- for a while.

And farming skulls in blood fang for gold for all day.

And late night dino raids on double exps haha <3ly

Sadly this type of player is on the endangered species list.. I still give stuff away. Gold Gear My first born... Joking about the last one lol.

A consequence of which is I am not geared as well as I could be.. But I swear I actually see those toons smile and that makes it all worth while.

Totally agree about these types being a rare breed these days. It was something I honestly enjoyed doing, and when I can play, I still do. I'm a hoarder lmao, all the low level elite drops from bosses like Perodia, Scooray (staffs/shields/robes) and other random stuff, I often give away in zone if there's actually someone who needs it. Same with the Eye of wisdom gear (and related temple heist/order of dark glory).

:/ Hell during better times I used to sit up on my perch in Tagena and offer dia prizes (a perm horse, a costume, whatever) to the first person to find me.. or answer my random RoM trivia questions.. I'm nostalgic for those days, lol. I always saw it as helping others not only helped them, but it helped me as a 'side effect', because you're helping 'bring newbies up' so there's more people to quest with, run with, raid with later on. I'm also a big believer in the pay it forward system.. and while sometimes that's backfired on me, it usually works out.. but again, even those willing to do that these days are few and far between :(
Some men just want to watch the world burn..
I just want to be the first to light it afire.

(Un)retiring very soon.

I remember being under lvl 54 and people would talk about going to the events in Dalanis. I treid really hard to lvl up and get there. Later I was able to go to Dalanis sewers and play my mage . It was fun to aoe me some spiders and have my name in lights. After I geared up a lil bit I was able to solo them.
