It is highly recommended that everyone take weekly if not DAILY screenshots of items / gear / currencies in their bag and on their character at all times because otherwise, how would RoM be able to prevent this loss? A reroll on all game servers that affects all characters?

Guys, I can't stress enough just how important it is to take 5 minutes and run a scan on your system, set it to overdrive hardcore mode. Also, you should REALLY go and change your password, even if its a pain to do with the current system go do it anyway.

I've changed mine and feel a little better for doing so.

Jaybray (70/70) just got hit on Artemis. Posting name with kind permission from Chrome.

If you see someone get hacked please make sure to pass the name on to either Kefkai or myself, preferably in private message where possible please. Also, any details you can give us on if they've ever used the curse client, have a curse account, have played on any private servers would all be very useful. We'll try and keep any information private where possible but may have to pass details on to Frogster staff.

We're desperately trying to find a common cause to figure out the origin of these hacks.

I have to say it was pretty upsetting and depressing to receive emails from friends letting me know my Character was being hacked (especially since I was at work and wasn't in the position to do anything about it). I have submitted my ticket and have faith that my toon will be returned to me with up-most urgency. I honestly hope my faith isn't misplaced. Even when GCD was implemented I wasn't driven to post in the forums, but right now I feel like my toon was robbed and raped from me.

This isn't right.
If I had been forewarned I could have taken precautions.

I hope you guys are reading the blue message Dionaea just posted.

She has clearly indicated that there has been no compromise of game data.

I would like a bit more clarification concerning this matter that (in my opinion) seems like a bunch of you are acting overly paranoid.

You guys need to relax and calm down. As far as I know there hasn't been a compromise otherwise we would have noticed a few days ago instead of now.

If you can change your password, go ahead and do so. If you cannot and come up with an error, make sure you are using the right password.

If you cannot log into the game because you did not change your password. You need to submit a ticket.

And concerning Craiger's comment, you cannot change the credentials of the account without submitting a ticket. Changing the credentials on your support account doesn't do much. It is the game account that matters and as I just logged into my FA account @ https://account.frogster-america.com

I see nothing wrong with my account.

-TunaShake

Quoted from "Dionaea;518742"

Hm wasn't me.

For the described situation, this was a single case and is fully under control now.

That is a good example to stress that playing online you should check your computer for viruses and keyloggers on regular basis, this goes not only for regular players but us as well. Also you should change your passwords regularly and not log into other sites with your game login credentials, including forums and sites of the kind we do not want to talk about (goldseller sites, botter forums, private servers, remember: all these are forbidden activities in our game.)

Do not buy gold from goldsellers and accept gold gifts in mail from players you do not know and did not talk about with them. If you suspect a hacking attempt on your account, instantly change all passwords and contact our support.

This is response to this comment and to all the other where ROMs story of what is happening is constantly changing from "this is an isolated case" and "do not buy gold from gold spammers" to "we are certain there has been no breach"

Im sorry, I am not one for normally losing my composure but that is absolute garbage. Two days ago we lost our biggest player, who I would reckon is easily the biggest spender on diamonds this game has ever seen, to this compromise of your systems. We have all done virus scans however my belief is that this is a total waste of time because pure logic completely rules this out for many reasons which I will list below. Most of us have changed our passwords after the theft of the above mentioned player, however as I write our second biggest player, and spender of diamonds, is being attacked and is spamming world chat for this website only minutes after he had logged off. We were actually talking about this situation before he logged off for the night.

1) Do you seriously expect us to believe that over the last 5 days that every single high level player that has had their accounts hacked/stolen have all fell victim to the exact same virus/Trojan/key logger at the exact same time and that said virus/Keylogger/Trojan was specifically tailored to pick up login details of a specific game for the purpose of spamming for a gold selling website?

2) In relationship to the above point, one of your own GMs has fallen victim to these atttacks which any logical person will realize, this almost completely rules out any suggestion that the attacked players may have had any involvement in any gold buying website or may have used any such sites to purchase gold or give their details to since your gms have absolutely no need to do such a thing.

3) Your databases have been attacked and stolen in the past and you have been threatened by the usage of such information against you. That's not to say this is the same person but the suggestion that you are somehow certain that this is not a repeat of this is either a straight up lie or a huge case of pure ignorance.

4) I will have to check and confirm this next statement but I am nearly sure the above mentioned player of our guild who is currently spamming world chat had already changed his password and has already done a complete system check for any unwanted malware which im sure at least some of the other players affected had done so once this started happening. This to me would suggest that whoever is responsible for this has constant access to your system.

5) This is not an isolated case where one person has been careless with their details, or even low level players who are statistically more likely to go to a gold buying website for the purpose of an easy ride to the top. Most, if not all of those affected are massive diamond buyers from your site and have absolutely no reason to have ever visited such a site.

Your whole explanation stinks of crowd control and personally im absolutely furious at your straight up denial to save your asses from the hordes of angry people that would ensue if you admitted that you either have no idea how this is happening or that your system was straight up compromised. Again. Get your act together and either start looking at this sensibly. Either its related to one of your staff or a straight up breach. The fact your own GM was targeted first surely to god screams that this is a direct attack on you, your staff and your game and not just a bunch of people who have mysteriously and coincidently been careless with their details. Stop trying to feed the community here absolutely bullsh..........

Ok, we've pretty much ruled out the following things completely or almost completely.

Curse (Many of the people hacked have no account there and don't use the client).

Gold buying (some of these people are diamond buyers, some totally free players, not a single person has said they buy gold nor ever have. This would be debatable had I not known some of the people who have been hacked, I trust they would tell me if they had).

Trojans (people have scanned their systems with multiple security program and nothing has been found).

If you have been hacked and have bought gold from a website, its VERY important you share this info, I swear I will not give names of anyone to any Frogster staff but we really need the information to be able to trace this.

I'd also still be interested to know what steps Frogster have taken to check their servers and security, because as yet there is no proof anything has been done at all.

1. I don't use curse client and i don't have an account with them

2. I'm using the same 6 addons I had for the last year

3. I don't buy gold

4. I don't buy diamonds, except with zeevex (which has different pw/login info) I buy from other players with ingame gold.

5. my PW for RoM and 2ndary PW are unique and not shared by any other website logins and or game accounts.

6. I run regular scans with kaspersky and just ran another (no issues came up)

7. I NEVER give out my login info

At this rate your not going to have any players with unhacked accounts by the time chapter 5 comes out and since GW2 and diablo 3 will probably be releases around then... yea good luck.

Also still have not heard back from support yet...

Over 30 accounts hacked and growing rapidly. There is not a problem here. Move along everyone. These are just isolated coincidences. Frogster has the situation under complete control so we can all rest peacefully knowing our hard work, money, time and devotion is in capable hands.

The later part of this statement does apply to me.

I have not nor will ever need to buy gold. I would like to know an estimated time-frame to expect my toon to be returned to me.
To say I am frustrated is putting it mildly; words can not describe.

I'd like to suggest you assign a specific person to handling this as its becoming more of a problem with each day that passes. Better to catch this early than let it build up and cause more problems.

(this is aimed at any Frogster staff)

The VERY worrying thing is the secondary password problem. If these people are obtaining passwords then somehow they're obtaining secondaries too. This again points more to a leak at Frogster than players.

Man, this is freaky. I hope they fix this soon because I'm almost scared to log off for the night, lol.

I'm wondering though - so if most of the people who have been hacked are diamond buyers, how many of those dia buyers who are getting hacked also used zeevex?
