The first thing that comes to mind is most likely a common forum all these people visit and used the same usernames and passwords for them and someone (in power) in that specific forum decided to abuse that information.

yes all good advice to follow to try and prevent keyloggers and the such but saying you guys know the server is not compromised or stolen information is ludicrous


lets just say by AMAZING coincidence all these people visited the same forum with accounts that are identical, what about their secondary password?

See the problem here is if it were a breach on frogsters end, they wouldn't admit it, then they would be obligated to restore everything in a timely manner. Tuna is fighting awfully hard, but the $65,000 question is why only Artemis?

Did only people on Artemis download the wrong thing?

Did only people on Artemis use the same user and password?

Did only people on Artemis share accounts?

Last but not least, the thing that everyone wants to know, did only Artemis have a GM account account hacked?

Oh and what can you see or get with access to a GM account?

Really hope you guys look into this, he was one of the nicest person i've met on this server and now gold spammers got his account hacked. Just like it happened on the other server.

Hope this doesn't happen to my account?

They have been posting non-stop since the end of the tournament in WC on his account. Are actually seeing it?

Then they'd MacGyver the damage with duct tape. Probably in the form of compensation packs that contain stuff worth 100dia, and the chance of getting up to 2 other items. ;P

Also, I really hope they're actually looking for a hacker. I know a hacker's hit Frogster before and ranted on about how Frogster needs to treat their players with respect and whatnot, or else they'd do something-or-other. I think s/he made a claim that 3k different accounts' info was stolen. This was with FAI, tho. Roughly 1.5 years ago. Mebbe?

I really have nothing else to say; I just wanted to make that MacGyver comment. :]

There has been three incidents on Palenque today as well. All high level players suddenly spamming World chat.


I'm curious though....perhaps it's time to look at what the hacked players DO have the same. The same spyware detection? The same add-ons? It may be possible that an add-on or an update to one is to blame here?


Anyways, hope it gets sussed out soon, and i'm sorry to those who have had their accounts taken over. :(

Thinking about potential client side issues (as the thought of server side is too horific to consider) I would think the most likely suspect would be a keylogger trojan. Could also be the use of the same password for another site and then either using the same password and 2nd or something simple and have been brute forced.

Play on the russian private server? (I actually think this is the likely candidate and would curious to hear from the hacked players)
