Updates on the hacker(s)

The last thread was closed because of "flaming, trolling, name calling, Frogster bashing, and profanities."
Whether that's true or not, do not bring any of it here. Please do not use any names, don't accuse Frogster of anything, flame, troll, or curse in an outrage.

I want to make this a post to figure out HOW people are getting hacked and if there's a pattern.

So far from what I've read a from personal experience I have gathered:

Who: High level toons that have most likely bought diamonds in the past. Their current login activity seems to be irrelevant.

How/What hasn't worked:
  • Changing your password does not work. (stated in the other post)
  • Scanning your computer with Avast! (assuming others such as Norton etc are sufficient) does not keep you safe from being hacked.

Please only post if you direct information on who (by who i mean the type of person/server, NOT the name) and what measures they tried to protect their account.

PS. I'm not stating the forum rules because I think they are valid in the situation or I'm taking Frogster's side, but I think the US Runes of Magic players have right to self update the situation until Frogster makes an official and efficient updating page about the current hacks.

You guys can add the names to this list or message Kefkai on the forums with the name/server of who was hacked.

I'll check to see if you can post names or not here for this case, as I would assume it is different, but please know that we're watching this thread, as we did the other one. Don't let it get out of hand. Although we understand the frustrations, especially as a player myself, we don't need the extra bickering on this thread and we appreciate your cooperation with such.

Can you give us an update as to what is being done to at the very least protect the players?

a friend got a strange email from moneybookers after a recent dia purchase asking for picture id and last months electric bill. could the hacks have used this same route or is this common with dealing with moneybookers?

I got that same email as well its says that we can't buy diamonds thru them unless we send them the info. I posted that email on the last thread until it was closed. It strange that there are more people other than me that received that same email.

I've purchased diamonds through Moneybookers a number of times since it was put into place, and have never been asked to send them verification of any kind. However, I use a credit card (Visa), and it is *always* verified directly through Visa and Moneybookers. Neither UGC nor Zeevex cards go through Moneybookers, BTW. I have used both of those, along with my credit card, but no other payment option.

Might I ask how your purchases were to be paid?

I'd appreciate it if those who are affected by this hackwave could send me their accountname in PM. With that I prefer to close this thread until I will post more information (Tomorrow or Monday that is).

Please have a little patience and don't open new threads, I will re-open this one as soon as possible again :)

Thanks for your understanding,

They will have to get in touch with our Customer Support for a possible refund of the lost items.

Personally, I feel that individual roll backs sound better for those who got hacked. It would give them their stuff back, and though they may lose some work from the day they got hacked, I'm sure they would gladly do it over to get there account back and intact.

Froggy should be able to do individual roll backs, I've heard of it done in other games (though it was mostly for glitch abusing)

The problem with rolling back/ returning items is the potentail for abuse. "You just spent HOW MUCH on that weapon?" "Don't trip, i'll just say I got hacked and get a rollback."

I doubt a roll-back is required, chikco got his account back after like 14 - 16 hours and had everything back to how it was.
