Yeah people getting hacked left and right. Yet from how froggy/rw are treating it seems they don't really care as long as money is still being made. You all know the drill if YOU get hacked its YOUR Fault...it cant possibly be a security compromise of a multi-million/billion dollar company... The excuse of its the players fault/responsibility isn't cutting it, many people that have been hacked have never done anything to compromise themselves...

It's blatantly obvious there is a major security flaw in each companies structure...and they don't know how to fix it...so sad

They don't give frequent updates on the situation, how close they are to fixing security, nor are guaranteeing customer data security... For a multi million/billion dollar company to be unable to effectively deal with a common occurrence in the digital age is downright pathetic. Do you people even have the manpower let alone brainpower to combat/fix security compromises... It really seems both companies are either
A. turning a blind eye hoping people will forget about it
B. they cant figure out where or how the compromise works
C. past employees that got layed off/fired are retaliating
D. RoM is on the chopping blocks and will close down

What a ridiculous flop...

The days of seeing much of them around on weekends is sadly over I think. In the old days, there might have been hope for that, but I don't think that is the case now. You would think that until this matter was fixd/closed they would deploy additional resources, PR and such to address both the issue rapidly,, but keep the player base from desolving.

A in-game friend of mine just got hacked and lost 300 diamonds. Luckily, he had great timing and got on right after and also had only one mega. Anyways, this is getting ridiculous, this is real money people are losing. Why is this being treated like nothing? There seems to be no respect for the fellow people of RoM. I'm so disappointed. Fix it.

Ooooh, inside job. That makes total sense. Someone inside Frogster is spamming gold sites, and I bet that person also hacking accounts of players and taking their gold. Why didn't I suspect a GM in first place?

Good job unraveling this, guys.

I have to agree with wiffo... Those accusations are a little rediculous.

Now, someone asked, "Well, why can't they just ban the people who the gold is sent to." Well, let's make a scenario: Your friend Xxxx is hacked. Instead of sending the gold to some lowby like I imagine most hackors do, they search through the friends list or guild list and randomly select names to send X amount of gold to. The player who was hacked reports that indeed, they were hacked, and that gold is missing, and ask the GM to track it. Now, having taken the suggestion into play, and not knowing whether you're a legit player or not, they follow the mails to your account. You are then banned for having stolen gold sent to you. This is why they will not do the "follow the trail and ban whoever was on it" thing.

Yes, by the way, the above does happen. Not the banning, mind, but the sending of gold to other legit toons. I've seen it myself.

.

If the passwords are being taken externally, ie keylogger or the like, there's not a whole lot Frogster can do about it.

I suppose making us changes passwords every few days would help. But then everyone woule be upset about that as well.

This situation does not smell like keyloggers although that is a possibility. It more smells like someone hacked the login server and is now having a field day. What frogster should and needs to do is to look into the server logs and find which accounts were compromised, then send e-mails out to everyone making us reset our passwords, all of them not just the ones for the game. Unless this is taken care of RoM will be dead before Ch 5 goes live.

My old guild leader took a pretty heavy blow yesterday when his account got compromised. Worse, this person seems to still be continually logging into the account to check for new resources.

I hope things get better. And that whomever is doing this stops. It isn't accomplishing anything.

I for one am all for giving up the release date of CH5, and redirecting those resources towards catching the person/s responsible for this.

I am curious as to what Gameforge thinks about the situation. If it starts impacting the game's bottom line too severely, it will get shut off.

I am with LadyMacV here. Put off Ch 5 until the hacker/hackers have been caught and delt with lethaly. This has gone way to long for RoM's community to ignore anymore. If this doesn't kill RoM ignoring it sure will.

With the shear number of accounts getting hacked this has gone on way to far for anyone to simply ignore. If something is not done immediately then RoM will die. Wether from GameForge killing it or from the playerbase abbandoning it. Either way there will be a lot of people very mad, more than the number there are now. Even if these accounts are old ones (and now it seems that some new ones are beign hacked) something has to be done. To me it looks like the login server has been compromised, and if that is the case then we are all screwed.
