I don't think so, this line is a bit too oddly specific for me, when Tuna-shake said the same exact thing to me.

Strange that. No staff members from Frogster have seen the list. If that was the reason you were banned then someone is abusing their power and has singled you out.

Not to mention the list has been checked for account names and none are on it. Staff have also been asked to look through the list and point out any names that need removing.

If you got banned for posting that list then major shame to Frogster.

*edit* Been getting very many pm's and my inbox is getting full pretty quick. As I've been very busy I've been trying to keep room but its hard. If you get a "user has full inbox!" message I'll get to it asap :)

It's moved to a location where it can't be removed and is public. I won't post the link publicly but you can obtain the address from me via private message or ask anyone in game.

I'll be adding a short note to each post I make in this thread that if a CM/GM/staff member see's an account name on the list then let me know which one it is and it'll be removed. We've already had one person wrongly banned for this reason, lets not make more and make this into a Frogsters VS players thing.

We will remove any links to such lists on our forum and I ask you to not discuss bans here on forum. If a player is banned he needs to get in touch with support and he will receive assistance or an explanation.

The list you refer to is out of our control and responsibility. However, the goldseller links are mentioned, which is indirectly advertizing them. So spamming the link in worldchat, you indirectly advertize for a goldseller, which can lead to consequences. In addition we have asked several times not to post such lists of hacked accounts. Since they have been hacked once already, we can not exclude that they might still be vulnerable for a second attack. Hence why we give our advices and work together with hacked players to ensure they do everything possible on their side to ensure or improve the safety of their accounts.

I can totally understand your wish to have some form of list or overview. But here on forums or in-game we prefer you not to advertize such lists and we will remove the list or links to it from forums.

We are giving you every information we can and I understand you need a thread to voice your concerns and give us feedback. But our recent statements still are accurate. If any new information comes up, we share it with you.

Please do not discuss the list anymore, also please do not discuss bans anymore. I very much would prefer to leave this thread open for you to have your voice heard and to keep you updated in case new information comes up.

Well that's an interesting one considering there was no spamming (it was said once and there was a ban within 5 minutes timeframe), and the more interesting part is how linking to the original wiki was fine up until someone from QA had to come down and talk in this topic and then suddenly everything changed.

Seeing the earlier pages in this thread it was obvious that there was a change in the way that staff was handling things, I'm honestly surprised that this thread is still open.

As far as second attacks go, I've said this before, the 'hackers' already have the account names, characters ingame have the character names as they've witnessed them spamming themselves. If the character names ingame are the same as the account names then literally anyone could go into the game and see those same character names.

Hell, I'll do you one better than that, go into a server and look at the rankings, the characters who are higher in rankings have more valuable accounts from an outside perspective, maybe we should just disable server rankings?

Just to note also, the gold seller website isn't linked in the list. And (to my knowledge) was never in the list either. It's also disheartning to see these hacked accounts spamming world chat for hours on end, but when a legit player places a link in game he gets punished in minutes. I also fail to see a decent reason why we cannot discuss the list, and would also like to know exactly what limits are placed upon us in game with this list and the link. World shout appears to be a no, but what of guild chats/trade channels?

Not entirely true, at some point during it's editing someone added the whole 'signs that someone has been hacked' though most of the time it's pretty obvious that someone has been hacked, not really sure why that's even a thing.

Ahhhh ok. I can only guess that the name which was an account name got added in the same way. Probably better the list isn't editable by public then.

Nah I'm pretty sure it's the whole character name = account name thing, I'll be completely honest here and say that my account name and character name and forum name are the same.

Hell though, I made this account long enough ago, my whole policy on that has changed a bit, but it's easy to track my online identity either way, my emails on the other hand have very little relation to any game I play/have ever played.

There is one thing though that provides extra security to an account and that's adding extra length to a password, so even if there is a brute force attack on it it'd take close to aeons to successfully guess that password especially if you're including more than the Alphanumerical set, and all that is limited to the speed of the connection to the server.

Is this affecting diamond sales? I'm personally a little hesitant to buy, I saw a friend get hacked and lose 2300 diamonds. Given that support moves at the speed of smell I have little faith.

It seems support works US servers Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on the EU side the rest of the week. Can we get full time support a make them a little more personalized.

The gold sellers websites are already in the game though? So are the gold seller websites you see in game, especially in Logar? Why in the world would you prevent a helpful <edit> to be posted on the forum? Why are you continuing to sell megas?
If there is some sort of auto program to detect websites; and accounts are <edited> in seconds, why is that the gold seller websites are not detected with the same or similar program? Why are you continuing to permit your customers to use megas? Why are you giving out advice that a 4th grader would know? Why do most of your customers feel patronized when you give out this advice? Does this sound rational to you? Is there anyone who is not connected to this company that knows the answers to my questions? If I happen to get some feedback please don't post anything that we were ordered not to post. Please don't give the staff a reason to close this thread. If I don't get any replies I'll presume you feel as I do.
There are no rational answers other than...<edited>.

I honestly think with the number of people who have been 'hacked' that we'd hear a lot more complaining if people were just losing stuff and not getting it back in a reasonable time frame.

As far as account restoration goes it seems like they're not doing a bad job from the sounds of it, as far as pinpointing the issue I'm not so sure.

Please, please edit your post. I do not think that you have done anything wrong. However, the forum staff feels that you have. I'm attempting to keep the staff from using <edited edited> to close this thread. No, I am not the forum police my intentions are honest and true. I'm referring to the "b" word and the names of the people.

If it makes ya feel any better I agree.

I feel like an abused wife being told to keep quiet...

455

Wednesday, April 18th 2012, 9:18pm

An apt observation.
Generally, abused wives (or husbands to be fair), end up leaving, provided they are lucky enough to get out in time.

I don't want to leave. There's plenty of things I still enjoy while playing ROM.
However, I don't know how long I can continue playing if I don't feel my account is safe.
I also have a resentment toward the company and anyone associated with ROM.

I believe that one particular CM is capable of anything. I could expound but I won't bother as I know nothing will be done and I would still like to participate on the forum.

Alternatively the abuser leaves and claims that the abusee was the abuser the whole time.

Either way I don't particularly like where this conversation is headed.

Stuff happens, but originally I was gonna make a joke about it, but others don't really appreciate that kind of humor. This isn't /b/ after all.

EDIT: Fine fine Kalvin you and your profanity filtering :( you know though most of us on these forums are like older than 20 which is why I don't watch my tongue around those sorts of things lol

Well, i can honestly advise to those who have been hacked to be patient. RoM support is working to restore the items lost due to the hacker(s). I just recieved my gold back so now i'm a happy player again. Cya, gotta go grind some more :)

Good to hear bud :) Thanks to whoever has the horrible job of having to deal with these hacks. We may sound whiney in this thread but we know you're working hard to fix peoples accounts up :)
