Reni lost a fairly well loved and respected member of its community tonight, thanks to someone's need to create a lot of strife in the game for either Gameforge/FrogsterEU or Runewaker. Or all three.

This is the fourth person in my personal circle of friends to have been affected. And they are no longer targeting only smaller players. I cannot imagine the chaos it will create if one of the leaders of Heretic, EDH, XGuardians, Phoenix or Noteworthy (or really, any of the up and coming guilds) has their account drained.... or if all of them do.

Has anyone attempted to communicate with the person/s responsible for the attacks on the accounts?
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

Right now I think that it is more about damage control, or even an attempt to placate the masses by giving them back what they lost. In truth ths may come back and bite Frogster in the end. They really should man up and let us know what is wrong so we as a community cna attempt to help out. Just reporting players accounts beign hacked does not seem to be doing a durn thing. More and more people are getting hacked every day. It will soon be the only ones that are in the game are the hackers/gold spammers, then where would RoM be? One foot in the grave I think.

They have put some kind of measure to close spam, and it looks to be working. Most likely it is obvious "check for the gold seller site address", but who knows. Last night I saw at least 3 world spammers (as in, world shouts for gold seller site) that could not get off the ground. Previously, a hacked toon would spam for hours, one for almost entire day. This time, each hacked toon lasted just a few minutes. One of them, as soon as he spammed, I tried to inquire on the toon, and it came up as "this character is offline" right away. Others were able to send 2 or 3 messages before meeting same fate. To me, that sounds like the countermeasure is being effective, in short run at least.

Now, that does not mean the hacking has stopped. I imagine that hackers can break into accounts that dont have megas and steal their gold/dias too. But, still, looks like progress is being made.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Yeah, people that get hacked have only themselves to blame. If you don't want to get hacked don't use your computer . If you think you are vulnerable.../format/reinstall everything on your pc everyday and you will be secure . Also create new accounts and transfer everything to the new char to be sure you are up to date with servers holding data...

Basically its probably gonna take a year to secure the servers/RoM, just gotta look back at how fast they handled previous things, and how fast they currently handle things.

If they can't solve the problem, maybe just cut RoM off completely and put everyone on RW's new game??? Better to have 1 really good product than 1 rundown product and a lackluster 2nd product.

Govinda's a mess. Spammers all day long from before 8am est. and still going on.
I have no idea why I'm bothering posting here. I wish this wasn't happening.

Nope. The only solution for *you* is to disconnect from the InterCatzWebz, then take a sledgehammer to your overpriced toaster. This would serve two purposes. First, you would be absolutely secure from being hacked. Second, we wouldn't have to read your drivel.

What you know about how these accounts are being accessed, or your favorite rant about "Frogster's servers have been compromised by a data breach" can be fit into a carbon nanotube, with plenty of room left over for similar claims made by others to be inserted.

InterCatzWebz, drivel.

Just felt like i'd point that out.

Also, its clear that Frogsters security has been compromised, why do people have such a hard time seeing that?

I am far too lazy for that.

But it does bring up the question, do people actually have so much faith in Frogster and Runewalker that they REALLY think it impossible for their servers to be compromised and the rising number of hacked accounts (Especially since this ALL came out of the blue) is all on the fault of the player-base?

Instead of suggesting something impractical you could just use Xen or alternatively use something like Deep Freeze, but Xen is cool, don't diss virtualizing your machine making save states is pretty much awesome in every possible way.

I know you were trying to be sarcastic, but Xen is pretty awesome.

Anyways, I'm not disagreeing with you in any way, but I'm recently being tempted into running Xen on my PC mainly because Windows is so trashy with their updates.

Someone seems angry, I believe you just violated a Forum rule hmmm :o. I am a customer as many others on here, it is a customers right to know they are getting a quality product and that their information is given proper security. You expect people to stay quiet about a rather serious security issue??? If people stayed quiet and never spoke up, then society would be dull and there would be no progression in customer service/products/technology/beliefs etc etc.

If you don't like what I have to say or others on the forums, don't Read it..its that simple. Today's generation is rather sad might end up being the downfall of the human species...

No, people should not quietly suffer when they get hacked, they should instantly contact support. And it is also totally fine and understandable to voice your concerns on forum. Still, up to this point, no security breach has been found on our side. We continue to investigate. As long as this information does not change and even then, please please please read our advices what you can and should do on your side to improve and ensure the security of your account. Even if you do not believe us, it can't hurt to follow these advices, right?

I repeat: At this point no security breach has been found on our side. We continue to investigate.

Please contact our support if you have been hacked or suggest a hacking attempt. Please cooperate with the support staff and follow their advice and instructions. Our support will assist you to get you your account and stuff back.

If any new information comes up in this matter, we will inform you.

So let me be the first to ask this, honestly I'd be paranoid in this situation if I was running a server and so many accounts were being violated by gold sellers, I'd question my skills as a security professional.

I would look to outside help to see if I was in particular doing anything wrong, has Frogster at the very least hired an outside consultant to look the problem over before just consulting their staff on the issue?

I don't know how much you're let in on Dionaea but it would be helpful to know that some outside eyes are being let in on this issue.

Could always go to the FBIs cyber crimes link on their page, these are American accounts after all. This sort of falls under their scope of service.
