Still, up to this point, no security breach has been found on our side. We continue to investigate.

I repeat: At this point no security breach has been found on our side. We continue to investigate.

OK, so honestly, you do realize that this does not instill confidence as people we have known for YEARS playing this game continue to have their accounts broadcast world shouts for renegade gold sites, right? Maybe, just maybe, you should do some "investigative" work on those sites. Like with law enforcement on your side. Just saying...

I am far too lazy for that.

But it does bring up the question, do people actually have so much faith in Frogster and Runewalker that they REALLY think it impossible for their servers to be compromised and the rising number of hacked accounts (Especially since this ALL came out of the blue) is all on the fault of the player-base?

not that long ago a rather large company named sony was hacked, this company has way more security and money than frog-waker so what do we really think is going on .......

It has less to do with security and more to do with people.. and Sony was 'hacked' because they're idiots, the people who did it did simple SQL injections it was more of a 'lol I'll try to see if this works' kind of thing and it did.

The whole thing was over 1 incompetent employee basically it's like if someone grocery store employee left the store and left the doors wide open and was like 'no one will ever walk in and steal anything in the store'.

But yeah, that was entirely employee incompetence, there's always reasons that hackings happen it's not really willy-nilly, if your system is insecure it will happen eventually, not everyone is a good Samaritan.

Unfortunately I ahve to agree with this. I will add to it though. Dio you say there was no breach on the site right. Have your people taken a look at the servers themselves?? It seems that as soon as one spammer is taken out someone else's account is taken over. This tells me that there is a direct possibility that the breach is in either the login servers or the actual game servers. With Chapter 5 coming out soon this hacking cannot be just a cooincidence. I do not know about the rest of the players but I do think this was a planned attack and until someone finds where they got in it will continue, creating headaches for the community, especialy those that got hit, and Frogster itself in having to answer all teh tickets that are coming in then attempting to replace everything possible that was stolen.
I suggested this before and I will suggest it again :RoM should be taken offline to keep more players from getting hacked and the problem found and fixed. If this or something similiar is not done soon then the community may just up and leave.
RoM has its flaws but I for one can live with them because I actually enjoy the game.

Extended downtimes can kill games, it gives people time to look for other games as replacements etc.

While I get what you're saying it's sort of a lose-lose, though as long as the servers are up everyone gets their siege 'fix' and that counts for something, there are some major siege junkies out there.

Has anyone compiled a list of addons or game related utilities etc that the hacked accounts have been using?

So far it's looked pretty random, high level and low, abandoned toons and those played daily, rich or poor. There really hasn't been a pattern to it, so compiling a list could help point out any similarities

I am honestly frightened to install RoM now. :P And why the hell do people even hack games? An even bigger question: why hack at ALL? You sick, sick people. x3

If I remember correctly, we've seen people with absolutely NO add-ons who were hacked. I'll have to dig back through this thread, but I seem to recall that question being asked fairly early on. Anyone else remember that?

As long as this information does not change and even then, please please please read our advices what you can and should do on your side to improve and ensure the security of your account.

Advice is the plural of advice...not advices. Spell check can help with this sort of thing.

You deleted the last post that explained this to you. You could have, in the very least, heeded the advice.

I can say that my guildie, Cat, who got hacked over a day ago got her account back about 24 hours later and ran ToSH with us last night. She is back rollin in her kitty litter.

Customer Service was excellent in this case.

The site that is spamming with hacked account sells gold for over 50 MMOs. If you think that is just a person or a small group doing it, think again. This is business. Think of it as organized mafia and not as your basic living on the street burglar.

The spelling and grammer mafia showing up to abuse the staff should help with their fight against the hackers. Good Job!

I am glad that Frogster is doing their best to get everyone who was victimized their accounts and maybe their stuff back. But how long will their accounts last before the ahcker decides to revisit them?? Just this morning on Reni I saw a real well known toon spamming the gold site. The hacking hasn't stopped.
We need the truth on this. At this point knowing what happened is better than guessing and getting paranoid.

Grammar...just saying.

When affecting a superior air, it is generally advisable to use spell check to keep yourself from being a target of ridicule. This is especially true in regard to a word that should have first been introduced to you in first grade.

So, how exactly are you helping "fight the hackers"? By posting on a forum that has proven to be, time and again, a staging ground for suggestions that are summarily ignored by everyone that has any means by which to do anything?

Grimoru, you are now my "hacker fighting" hero. Keep up the good work.

And I would really appreciate if the derailing of the thread could stop now as well as the spelling-corrections against other users or team members.

Delta, one can only become a target of ridicule if someone wants to target him, for whatever reason. While I appreciate your efforts to improve my English skills, please do so in PMs from now on. We are humans after all and any constructive criticism may help with improvements, so please feel free to do so but in PM. Thank you very much.

Thank you for this rather positive feedback which shows the other side of the medallion :) Even if the hack itself we all prefer rather not would have happened to your guildmate.

Thank you Dio. Hopefully Frogsters tech junkies can figure out what happened soon and can take measures to prevent it from happening again. I realize that you will not be able to tell us exactly waht happened due to the possibility of it happening again by someone else. But at least a bone would be nice. There is a lot at stake here for Frogster and its playerbase. Not just the RoM player base but the other games as well. I do not want to see Frogster getting a bad name due to some idiot wanting to get back at them for something they think should be done, or even just to mess with players.
I stand behind Frogster in all the effort they are putting forth to get us through this. Lets all do the same.

Just because they don't use curse doesn't mean that they don't use add-on's. I my self use add-on's but I do not use the Curse Client. I'm pretty sure 90% of the people in the game have used some sort of add-on. Its just a matter finding out what type of add-on they were using if it was add-on related. I myself believe that it could be a common add-on such as PBinfo, not saying it is, just saying it could be something that common that no body would even begin to look there because of how popular that add-on is.

I realize that. I didn't assume that the post I linked meant that no one had used add-ons. However the person I replied to, whose post has been removed for idk what reason, said that they recalled someone stating that hacked players had not used add-ons. In fact, the only place in the entire 50 page thread where lack of add-ons is posted, is the post that I linked. And as you can see, it does not specifically say that NO add-ons were used, only that some were not using curse add-ons. So the assumption that add-ons are not the culprit is not entirely true. People just assumed that it was because of that post. Hope that clarifies what the original implication of that link apparently did not. Anyway I really hate to do break-down explanations, so I'm not going to say anything else about it. If you get it, great. If not, oh well.

Well, support was doing good. They sent me an email explaining what they were doing with my account after I had been hacked and reported. In that email it told me:

"You will receive a second email in the next few minutes with a link to reset your password. As soon as this is complete, your account will be automatically reactivated and you will be able to log in as usual after about 15 minutes."

I was happy, and waited. That was 2 days ago.. (Yes, I've checked my spam folder.)
