@ Maecon

Don't feel bad, on thursday I was doing my mini's and crashed (the normal RoM bs) and when I attempted to log back in, it said my account was suspended to contact support. So after submitting my ticket, I received an automated response back telling me to reply from my inbox. I did that and then they said it would take up to 48 hours to respond to my ticket.
At this time, I was like ok kool, I can get my account reinstated by the weekend and still be able to participate in this event (I've been saving reset tickets for my secondary class). 8 hours later I received an email stating that I need to reply with all my information to verify that I am the account holder, so I replied with the info and started thinking to my self "Great, this is going better than I thought". But boy was I wrong.
18 hours later, I received another email stating that the email that I was submitting my ticket through was not the email on file with my account, that I had to create a new one in order to verify that I was the original account holder.(thinking to my self WTF do I need to create another email account to verify that I'm the account holder for if I already gave you all the info u asked for). I mean they asked for info like when and how was your last purchase on the account and how much did you purchase, if you have a transaction # please post it, that kinda bs. So why the hell do I have to make a new email is what I responded.
10 hours later, they replied that I have to create another email so I can have it linked to the account. ?!?!!?!? So 5 min later I replied with the new email address and asked when I could play again.

And to this day, 96 hours later, I'm still locked out of the game, no response as to why my account is suspended, or when I could have it reinstated. I know its not an IP ban because all of my other accounts work. I dont understand why my main account would be blocked.

I'm really starting to fully understand why people have quit this game, I mean jeeze doesn't FEU(the company in general) realize that this is a 24-7 game? Honestly, I feel and think that they should have tech support 24-7 as well. Oh, and by the way, the last email they sent to me was on Friday at 10:30pm east coast time.

So don't feel bad man, your not the only one

Well, support was doing good. They sent me an email explaining what they were doing with my account after I had been hacked and reported. In that email it told me:

"You will receive a second email in the next few minutes with a link to reset your password. As soon as this is complete, your account will be automatically reactivated and you will be able to log in as usual after about 15 minutes."

I was happy, and waited. That was 2 days ago.. (Yes, I've checked my spam folder.)

I got the email that also said in the next few minutes a link would be sent to reset my passwords. I never got the link. But I logged on the account site to see my status and it required me to reset all my passwords and then I was able to play.

Did you go to account management site (not support one) yet?

For those of you that are having problems with the E-mails. I also have a second e-mail that I use specificaly for Support. My reason is that my main E-Mail account blocks Frogster completely. I attempted to get this fixed several months ago but the people running my main e-mail service gave me some crap about Frogster beign a spammer. I pretty much gave up on swapping my e-mail to the one I originaly signed up with due to that reason. Each and every time I make a support ticket I ahve to explain what my original e-mail provider says and usually Frogster takes care of my problem. I do so wish that instead of telling us that we have to make the support account on the same e-mail as our game account they could be different. This will make things safer because if someone tries to get into your support account using your game accounts e-mail addy then they will fail.

Hello, My account has recently been hacked. I had 0 diamonds on that account and somehow they managed to obtain megaphones to spam in world about selling gold or whatever. (I was informed via facebook from a guildie) I haven't been on much due to my harddrive being busted. So I can only goto my sisters house and play. I fully scanned her computer for any sort of trojans and everything was fine, so those things are out of the picture for being keylogged.

I logged back in and all of my gear went missing along with a few high level tier stones. I already submitted a ticket for a request to get rolled back. I hope they do roll me back because I already spent a few hundred on my account. I would also like to raise the question about why are known players in grimdal being hacked all of the sudden?

Sincerely,
Chinatownhooker

Just to address the add on thing. Several people were hacked who had never used add ons. There has been no solid pattern of usages of any kind so far.

Unfortunately in order to roll back one character Frogster will ahve to do a full server roll back. I really do not think that will happen. They have been working with those that ahve been hacked to get as much of what they lost back though. So send in a ticket and hope for the best.

Just to clarify to this.

People need to remember that if they are not getting a password reset e-mail or a reply from support in their e-mail. It most likely means that e-mail provider they are using is a bit strict.

I do know that a lot of ISP (who provide e-mails for customers to use) tend to block a lot of e-mails from many different websites. (Including Frogster)

Thanks Tuna. I have reported this to Frogster but your bosses (or at least teh monkeys in support) stil try to get me to use my e-mail address that was originaly used to create my RoM account. But like I said my provider blocks all e-mails from frogster for some unknown reason. I ahve missed out on a lot of promotions due to this, but I don't complain as long as I am having fun playing.

That makes no sense whatsoever. How would frogster be so quick to block certain characters, but it'll require them to "rollback the whole server" in order to restore an individual's gear?

yall do know that hacking is a career move in china right? they have schools for it. the chinese government has rooms of people employed for the sole purpose of hacking into other countries, their websites, databases, etc. its what they do.
back to the topic, havent seen any hacked spammers on indigo in a while. maybe our lack of population helps.

Roll-back is the worst word to use in this context.

I am pretty sure items can be recovered as long as they exist in the log files.

If you lost items, the only thing you can do is to submit a support ticket.

From what I have read since the beginning of this hacking incident. The hackers did not take any items.

There were some players (specificaly the endgame ones that got hit) that were missing all their gear and some other stuff went missing. There are several posts on this and unless they ahve all been merged you would have to do a bit of looking for them. I know one endgamer on Reni that lost everything he had on his character. But most players that ahve been hit only lose diamonds or any mega's they had.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the few end gamers that has lost all of their gear. I logged in and all of my warden gear (I'm a warden/scout) was gone and I was in my level 50 scout gear. I already submitted a ticket and it's been 2 days since the ticket. I still have not received a reply yet. RoM needs to step their game security up. My passwords aren't something easy to figure out either.

Just because people got hacked by someone doesn't mean they are all by the same person.

A few pages ago, CM Dionaea did post a list of things that could potentially reduce the chance of your account(s) getting compromised.

A guildie of mine got hacked and had clean t7 - t8 (some t9 gear) and the hackers didn't even touch it. These gold spammers are most likely only interested in advertising and stealing gold. Gear doesn't help them that much, especially since ... it would be much harder to hide.

If someone lost gear in the process. They need to follow the advice CM Dionaea provided very very carefully.

You would be surprised how easily it is to steal someone's credentials... Paz posted a bunch of posts in this thread explaining how simple it is to do so.

I honestly still believe that the servers have not been compromised. If they were ... we would be seeing a lot more then 10 - 15 accounts hit everyday.

Only thing people can do is to submit a support ticket and get a response in a few days.

@ mrmisrterwaa Artimas had over 50 accounts hacked in ONE day. Gold sellers will do anything to get teh gold they need for a client even going as far as selling high end gear. Seeing as most gear can sell for up to 10000 gold that is a big chunk of change. It all depends on how long they ahve the account and how fast they can get rid of junk then send the gold to their mule account. In games like WoW where it was fairly easy to make gold (everything dropped a bit), then they would not have to resort to hacking peoples accounts although it did happen. In Rom there are only 3 ways to make gold:

1 Quests, not just the normal ones but every quest you do gives out some gold. Dailies can only be 10 per day as everyone knows and in order to make a decent ammount of gold with them you would ahve to use the reset tickets, which cost diamonds. Now gold spammers are only in it to amke money so they most likely not buy diamonds to buy the reset tickets.

2 Instance runs for gear. Even the white gear in some instances can fetch 5-10k each piece. Small change sure but if you go in with an empty bag that can be 30+ pieces of equipment. Multiply 30 x 5000 and you get 150000 gold farmed in a bit of time. That is not including the gear they may get to sell in teh AH.

3 Gathering materials. Easy way to make gold if you want to spend a few hours a day farming mats and then sticking them in teh AH.

4 Shell Games. Spcificaly to get the shells to buy the gear then create a mana stone. Granted a gold seller may not do it but a regular player will.

Most MMORPG's have it set so that gold drops off almost everything that moves and can be attacked. RoM is the exception to that one caveate. There are a dozen more ways to make gold in RoM that can be used by gold sellers but the easiest is to ahck an account.

The people thinking that the servers have no security fault because they are saying only a few people get hacked daily or weekly how about think a bit more logically... If a person or persons have found a way to inject their malicious code into the server files/hardware then they would use it smartly. The more a hole/breach is used the easier it would be to detect and "fix". Why would the people initiating the hacks, hack in mass and increase the risks of being detected/caught. Its smarter and more efficient to pick away by select targeting a hack.

Simply google anything related to gold sellers/hacking online games and you will see that it isn't some small time operation. It's a big business where people can make a really good living, there isn't much companies can do unless they have the best of the best programmers working for them. But knowledgeable people these days is hard to get because more and more people go the easy route and like being lazy...

Knowledge is always greater than money...

OMG Mrwaa said its not the servers that have been compromised so it must be true! After all he is the most fair and balanced and always gives an objective statement in regards to Frogster, in fact I think he is a little hard on frogster at times! Yay frogster has not been hacked its all 300+ plus fault. Shame on you all shame....

btw, has there been any connection to the people getting hacked having the same forum passwords as their in-game passwords? I'd figure that the database (possibly MySQL) could very easily get jacked for username and password which then could be used to login to the game.

I believe that ahs been discussed already. Its too bad that a LOT of players are too lazy to think of different passwords for each and every website or game they play. This invites hackers. I use a different password and user name for every website and every game I play. Yeah it is a pain, but I ahve had only one game hacked into and it was resolved by Bliz very fast. I now have one of their authenticators attached to my account, so ahcking would be near impossible.

Are accounts still getting hacked on other servers? All has been quiet on Govinda when I'm on during siege.
