also yeah haven't seen any hacked people since patch

So the March 27 patch fixed hacking across all servers? I'd be skeptical of this until confirmed.

Would appreciate anyone and everyone across all servers asking around in game, in guild etc. I haven't heard of anyone getting hit since last patch myself.

How could a patch fix something caused by players with tin foil hats who were buying gold but would never tell you they were buying fold because they haven't changed their password in three months of sharing accounts...Deep breath!

The small patch implemented a few string changes. If we implement extra security changes, which will affect the playerbase, we will announce it accordingly.

Our advise remains the same for everyone. If you have passwords older then 3 months, please change them. For any guidance or assistance to change your passwords, you can contact me or other officials in PM. If you have valuable information concerning the hacking, please contact me in PM.

Exactly my thoughts, lol. Everything posted by Frogster has implied its our fault.

Why?

If we ALREADY have strong and unique passwords (different password for Frogster account management, different password for Frogster US forum, different password for Frogster EU forum, different password for RoM game login) that are indeed different than every other password used for social/game/work sites, then how can changing them NOW be advised?

You can not prove a negative. So we are reluctant to believe statements of (paraphrased) "Frogster and their oursourced suppliers are not the security weakness". Until you actually determine where the breech occurred, even the process of changing passwords is suspect.

edit:
3 months? Maybe advisable for secure operations. But Frogster is no longer secure.
3 months? Is this some correlation to when EU took over?

bannister, it is a general advice to regularly change your passwords and this goes for not only our game but any internet application you use that requires log-in details. It does not point the finger at anyone and also it does not imply that there has been any break-in in a certain time, just as we advice to regular scan your computers, update your security software and so on and so forth. These are general tips we are handing out, that is really all. If you deem the advice not useful, it is your own free decision not to comply, so to speak, thus is the nature of giving advice. Else we would order it, then you could maybe assume that something has happened in a certain time, but then assuming would not be necessary because we would tell you the reasons. Please do not fuel un-needed panic.

We will continue to maintain our security, investigate every reported hacked account for all possible options and, if needed, improve the security on our side, just as we ask you in advice to maintain yours.

There is really no big conspiracy going on.

Now I do understand that you are worried and want a definite answer to all your questions. But we can not answer you in the way you want us to, as what you want us to say would not be the truth. We are here to assist you, our support will assist you and investigate if your account was hacked and will return to you that which was lost by the hack, if possible.

So in laymans terms if You get hacked its Your Fault from what the so called "officials" are saying. It can't possibly be the servers having poor security. Nor could it be bad code within RoM...its cause people have "weak" passwords (laughable claim). I still wonder why there wasn't a sticked thread or a homepage post concerning the Hacking events since it was a rather rampant case. Really seems shady to not keep the public/consumers well informed of the games security.

What about people personal information such as credit cards, other online accounts, emails, etc etc. Say the hacker got ahold of that information all cause of an online games poor security measures...

Unsecure is unsecure...till a proper well made fix is implemented and publicly announced to solve the security issues.

You want the truth that satisfies, not the truth that is real. There's a difference. And you can't handle the truth that is real.

Exactly :)

So my last statement stands which i already linked. If we have any new information to share, we will, and we will continue to investigate each hacked case for all possible reasons and security issues. Please consider our advices and contact our support if you suspect a hacking attempt or suffered one, so they can assist you and investigate your case.

Bannister, please do not re-post insults to other players, we still have rules. We like to continue this discussion with everyone of you as constructive and informative as we can, but part of that is to accept other people's opinions, if not agree with them. That is what a discussion stands for. Calling someone troll does not count as a valid discussion participation. Thank you for understanding. Please find back to topic.

Just like I do not have to agree with your assumption that we blame anyone or that I should give information that is not true, I have to accept that you do not believe me but I do not have to agree with it.

Let's remain constructive please.

Nice that some connected players are still able to insult others and still get away with it.

What we have asked for and continue to ask for, is the REAL truth.

Now, can we please find back to topic? Flames and discussion of moderation only derail the thread further. I can not help that what we are telling you is not what you expect us to say. And again, we can not say that which you want us to say, as it has no valid truth and is not real. If any investigation would come to different results, we would inform you as we always have. If you suspect otherwise, that is your good right, I can not force you to believe us.

I would really appreciate if we can find back to topic now :)

Thank you.

I, personally, am not surprised about the hacking. When you run a message board like the gestapo, you tend to piss the users off. When it's an online medium of communication, you have to assume that at least a handful of those users are as adept as your security people in traversing teh intarwebs.

Here's a novel concept...How about trying NOT to piss the users off as a general rule? It might have some additional user retention side effects that would keep some of you in your jobs longer.

Frogster...once again, you're doing it wrong.

Well, the important thing is, there has been no hackers on Govinda last night after the patch during the 2 hours that I was on. :) And I hope it stays that way, although the next patch will probably undo this fix like all the other next patches.

Ah, sadly, not true. I was told that someone on Govinda was hacked after the patch. But I haven't heard anything else.

Ok here's what I got from the official support in regards to my account being hacked:
sent ticket: "my account was hacked. Please look into this for me"
"Give us character name and info"
"I already did. Here's my info again."
"your ticket has been closed"
"please don't close this ticket. The issue is not resolved"

WTF? Is there any official frogster employee who can guide me through contacting support and getting a real response?
