I am usually amused by the actually shocking number of pop culture references in game, considering the devs are Taiwanese.

The best one is Freud SPLINTER and his four turtles named after Renaissance artists just outside of DoD...but there are more, like three NPCs in Ystra Indy Anna and Jones. There's a guy in Shador who's name is George Vuitton who talks about how his father Louis Vuitton sells high quality leather handbags and whatnot. Then for the Flower Festival one npc mentioned how "He used to be an adventurer like you, until one day he got shot in the knee with an arrow".

The Tang brothers have spent a lot of their 'youth' in America. They mention that in interviews. Also, their spoken English is better than many Americans.

One of your references are actually Asian, translated into English. But yeah, like most modern video games, there are many such references. Still not enough Monty Python references, though.

One of the things that amuses me (on Osha server) is people who absolutely spam the world chat - I get a lot of laughs. Also there are a bunch of people who clamor over a few RL girls in chat. Lol. And forgive my ignorance on this, but what is the arrow in the knee thing?

Same here ^_^ Some of those personalities never fail to entertain. About the "arrow in the knee" I believe urban dictionary is pretty accurate with: "
A phenomenon that occurs when you're stopped in your tracks or cease to do something that you used to: popularised in today's culture by Skyrim with the famous phrase "I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee." iterated by guards that pop up in the game. Since Skyrim's release it has found popular use around the interweb, having been parodied thousands of times in youtube videos and comments it has become a meme. The phrase can be applied to any everyday situation by "I used to .... but then I took an arrow to the knee"

Speaking of references in the game, I was questing on my alt thru Elven Island, when I noticed there was an NPC called "Master Yoda" (from starwars), and he speaks exactly like the Yoda in Starwars :)

Lol Yoman, I feel the same :P

I'll tell you a tale of a tree trunk. A mystical, magical tree trunk of a once toppled mighty great Oak(?) in Aslan.. in the 3+yrs I played, especially before the /stuck option.. no matter how careful I was, whenever I passed this particular tree trunk, I would find myself stuck. To this day it still strikes out at random people who venture near it. I've never hated a tree trunk in all my life, till I met that one. LOL.

Random deaths.. those were some humorous times when they first started popping up.. my first time that it happened to me I was standing out front of the AH in Logar, I had a bunch of new players scatter like the hand of a Dev came down through the pixelated sky to smite me lmao
Some men just want to watch the world burn..

That, too. :D Even if it weren't for other reasons, keeping reading US forums becomes worthwhile just due to regentego posting. I bet the guy works at a circus in RL.

Funny :D I didn't thought of Frogster in such a way but I can imagine GM and CM jumping around while wearing big red noses. :D

Hmmm.... Stuff that amuses me

1) Steve. Really, how do non-Reni people survive without having Steve around? Sure, Gigi tries on Palenque, but it is just not the same.

2) This "Unfulfilled Wish" quest. Really, that is a long story of relationship in one short quest.

3) SW QQ show. SW has been working recently, so the QQ show has been very weak. But, looks like it is having issues again, and that means kick back, get popcorn and watch the hilarity.

4) Xaviera fly raid. That place has replaced Varanas for newbie watching.

5) Romage(Atar) complaining about item shop prices and sales. Something tells me his photo is pinned in the middle of dartboard in every Frogs sales/marketing guy office.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Players that whisper you in Varanas, level 2 and asks to be power leveled, loll. Someone alt most of the time and then you open a portal and send them on the bridge of cremation or Zanka's nest.

Ask me to be Power leveled and you will get the special reward.

Back before i knew about fireboot, i used to port between limo and varanas for dumb reasons of course, to make tier stones, but at the time i was out of transport runes and i have like 1000 transport portal runes from failed gashas a while back, so i started wastin those portin back and forth... this level 30 toon decided to follow me thru the portals, the first few times it was cool and funny haha, but it got annoyin after 6+ times, and him sayin hi everytime, so i patiently waited again like i kept doin and opened a port right smack down in the hand of truth ruins where i used to tp farm, puts you smack right in the middle and be expected to fight the moment you land there..i decided to follow him to see how he made out after a few minutes but he was already gone :)) no way he made it out of there alive :)

You do know that there is a random fusion stone vendor in Dalanis. With that said, I made a t9 and a t8 weapon by porting from Limo to Dalanis (via snoop transporter) back and forth... taking me a few hours to make the weapon. Then I found out that there were both, t4 gear and random fusion stone vendors in Fireboot. I just dropped my jaw in disbelief for a few moments.

And speaking about random deaths. Me and a RL friend use to play RoM together. He and I would try to get on top of the cottage in Silversping (think it's the one closest to the castle with all of the lowbie quests). Well, my friend got on top of the building quite easily, and while he was waiting for me to get up there with him, he randomly died and (being at the very edge of the roof) tipped over at 90 degrees now looking like his ridged dead body was a nailed to the wall. It was so hilarious.
