With more supply of the same gear the prices of gear will continue to drop. Prices of diamonds will continue to be at around the same rate unless terrible inflation hits us again like it did before.

From an outsider's perspective this is somewhat hilarious. Like a teeny tempest in a teapot. The ironic thing is that Reni seems to have one of the most balanced and healthy economies of all the servers, because of the cooperation of the several endgame guilds.

Here's my big question: Why all the hand-wringing over prices? Especially when the prices seem pretty low

I have said this before, and I guess I may as well say it again- you don't need ToSH gear. No one needs ToSH gear. ToSH gear is shiny and pretty and makes you drool and it's very spiffy and all that but... no one actually needs it to complete endgame content. They sure as heck don't need to clean tier it to 9 either.

There's an easier way to deal with this "crisis."

Frogster already implemented it. Phirius shell and Memento gears, statted with Phirius shell and Tergothen Bay event stats can get you to GCH, which will get you GCH weapons which will get you to ToSH. They even just made it easier since you can buy Sardo weapons with mentos now.

This is not rocket science peoples.

Sell dias for the spiffy shiny droolworthy gears at your own risk. Sell shiny spiffy droolworthy gears for gold or dias at your own risk. Because at any point some smart group of ambitious people might just gear themselves up with the stuff that's already freely available and beat you at your own game.

Why don't more people do this? Cause well, breaking new content is a real pain in the bum, as all those people who are already endgame can tell you. It mean staying up late, it means using a lot of resources, it means getting mad at your friends when they wipe the party over and over, getting mad at the druid for a bad charm, getting mad at the tank for a bad pull... and then getting up the next day and doing it again.

Anyone can do this. They just need to be willing to put in the effort.

The dia sellers who are gear buyers are playing the system in a way, by trading a resource for the reward you get naturally from going through that process. They are trading one form of effort for another. That's fine... it's the basis of the RoM economy. It allows people with limited time and ample money to buy leetness. It allows people with ample time and limited money to sell leetness. But don't forget the people in the middle. They just need twelve like-minded individuals that are the right classes and with a few operating brain cells to get together and cut either side out.

If there was a gear cartel on a server, if there was a dia cartel on a server... any such thing would be left powerless before a determined group of people willing to spend their own time and own money to ignore both parties and just do the damned work themselves.

Yes! What Fan said too long to quote so I didn't. You don't need the best gear to run the latest instance. Just a good weapon and decent P.Att, crit rate. Did I mention my W/Wdn is wearing T4 Imprisonment dirty statted Hunter's Helm, and 3 Pc Devil Slaughter and I RUN TOSH-H WITHOUT being carried? I burst up to 250k DPS in burst phase and finish the fight with 4m damage done on the boss in a 1 tank, 4 heals, 7 DPS party. Don't believe I'm dirty statted? Come into my house and inspect my gear. Don't believe I can pull that DPS in ToSH H? Well neither can my guild until they saw the scrutinizer themselves

I'm still convinced my scrutinizer addon is broken. No way we're letting a dirty imp statted w/wd into tosh hm.

Ebi 200m pieces are very rare and thus command the high price. I think only HD tosh chest pieces and weapons go for that much. Think about how many hours went into farming an item that expensive and rare... tack on an hourly wage and its probably nearly the same amount of money your paying for your diamonds. F2P is not really any easier or cheaper then P2P... its just how they invest their time. your older and have a job... they are younger and don't typically.

Berec im not buying the rarity argument, I was there in chapter 3 scouts of magic when you all were sitting on xbows and yawaka gear slowly releasing your surplus to keep them "rare"

Reni welcomes all visitors and about the rarity, we've cleared ToSH about a month ago. We run it quite frequently, although not every night, maybe every other. We've had only one Shint's Secret Intelligence drop, our rogues aren't happy campers :/

you mean when the xbows where 2m each and people who ran dia mode didnt feel like wasting adv unbinders on such a small return item? plus almost every endgamer had one and there where like 20 for sale lol.

also you do the math how many hours does it take for a 12 man party to get a 200m item... really if you where to start just trading your high cost items for zeevex and then selling your zeevex on the bay it would be a very pathetic hourly wage.

so you can equip 17 differebt pieces of gear if you were to sell dias to buy all 17 pieces,at say 20 million gold fot each piece=340 million.
you would have to sell 13600 dias to get that much gold.
so around 544 us dollars (without dias sales)
is my math correct?
this seems a little ridiculous to me ,this is the reason i try to farm my own gear and try to give to guildies or anyone that asks, gear for the price of an aub.
i never seem to have more that 5 mill gold at any given time because of this.
i do not need to be the best on the server nor do i need to spend a ton of money.this is a game its supossed to be fun.

Of course it can be done with RT gear. When chapter 4 came out we ran SC and GCH with ZS/DL/RT gear. We cleared with ZS/DL/RT gear and upgraded to GCH/SC gear. There's no way we started running SC and GCH with GCH/SC gear.

This is exactly why I have started to refuse to sell to anyone that I find selling any gear for more than what it is worth. The player base cannot support multimillion gold gear no matter if it is od or not. My guild has pretty much died but I continue to log on and upgrade what I can in the hope that someday someone will decide to come and stay in it (or not abbandon the game). Several new players that I recruited lasted exactly one day. I helped them to get to lvl 40 with their toons and then they started to look into the AH and both decided to quit when they saw the prices that players werw wanting for gear. The player base cannot support that and like it states above will continue to decline until there are no new players coming in, and a lot of others have moved on to other games.

I agree with Ebilone, we as diamond sellers could all just refuse to undercut each other anymore. I buy diamonds, WHEN i sell them i refuse to for under 50k. I make a good amount of money farming gear with the instances my gf and i run duoing. That affords us the money to keep us geared while our time and tenacity we stat easily with mems/shells. The ToSH stuff we need we buy, but only after we think the prices have dropped to an acceptable level. I think the dagger prices are ridiculous.

More importantly diamond seller not only need to refuse to sell for such a low price but also refuse to buy for the prices that are up. There are a good number in the AH. Let them fight over prices on selling and undercutting each other while we hold strong.

This is my opinion and i live it. No one will make ridiculous amounts of gold off of me, and when i sell i will get what my $$ is worth. It may take us more time to get to where we want to, but i will not bend to the F2P when i keep the servers running with my money.
