Poll: New Pet Hunters

Where should a new Pet Hunter be placed?

A total of 40 Votes have been submitted.

18%

Dalanis - The other two main cities have one. Why not here? (7)

5%

Frontline Camp (Xaviera) Obvious, considering how much time people (lv:48-70) are here doing dailies (2)

5%

Kandor (Southern Janost Forest) Let pets craft while people are AFK farming mems (2)

50%

All of the above (All needed and I can't decide which is best) (20)

10%

None of the above (things are fine the way they are now) (4)

13%

I have one even better then yours (Post in a reply) (5)

The need for more Pet Hunters has been stated many times, 6 is not enough
considering where they are currently placed, entirely in the old (original) areas
(except for CoO). However, if there was only one addition, where should he
(sorry ladies, all Pet Hunters are male - it's Frogster don't blame me) be put?

Current Pet Hunter Locations

1. Varanas (Silverspring)
2. Logar (Silverspring)
3. Silverfall (Aslan Valley)
4. Obsidian Stronghold (Dust Devil Canyon)
5. Valley of Preparation (Elven Island)
6. Heffner Camp (Coast of Opportunity)

Why not have one in every zone? Put them in all of the Major towns of all the zones. Harf in Ystra, Limoin Kingdon in Limo, Lyk in Dragonfang, etc.

I actually cannot agree on Dalagis due to the ammount of Lag there. Although I did vote for frontline camp I believe the dwarf fortress may be a better place in that zone. Like MPHick said though one in every major town in each zone would be much better.

Fireboot Fortress would be fine. My guess is there will be one in the new dwarf starting zone just like there is one in the elf and human starting zones, and that would work for me as it would be close to the end game content.

I agree with latter part of the current game, like Fireboot. Dalanis is too close to OS and too unstable. Frontline... ugh. The less reason people have to go there, the better. Kandor? Nobody really stays in the area much. WA is meh instance by now, and there is little reason to stick there.

My second choice would be Rh'anka village. Lots of people run RT and need pet repair food.

They won't do it because they want you to buy transport runes, lolll. The furthest apart the more people buy, just my opinion. I do agree they should have one in each zone and house maid and AH NPC.

Yeup Fireboot, Frontline Camp or Ruins Research Camp, TB.

My opinion of why there are only so many of these is that it makes it easier for the GM/staff to check for players using the Pet AutoCraft auto buy/sell feature, which is considered botting in RoM's books. Less spots to check, easier for them.

I have seen the same toons standing at the pet venders for months. If their checking, they are just standing there and watching their technique.

Really, while people can be checked for crafting mat with PAC, nobody does that check. You might refer to thread on botting for a lot more serious violation that goes unchecked. And it is not like GMs cant go anywhere they want anyway. Even besides GM powers, they have all the transport runes they could want.

I would say that the reason is because pet system has been neglected in Ch4. They have not upgraded pet production levels, they have not changed high level zone cavies not to be crap, etc. Really, besides a new pet hunter in Heffner, there has not been anything done with pets. Well, maybe if you count golden eggs bind, but that is more of anti-botting measure than pet change.

I wouldn't mind to have pets in some far areas, but at least in areas where you have a house maid, like savage lands, and Static Latrofea. But what I really wanted pretty much is that you can type tha ammount of tools you want instead of clicking until you reach stack number. This could also apply to planting tools vendors. It's really boring to buy 500 water /soil...

Anywhere but Dalanis it is already the crash king of the game, another reason to bring even more characters and crashes there is insanity. Firebot Fortress is probably the best place to add one.

You can try an addon called BuyStack, shift-right-click and it buys full stack. Ten seconds and you have 30 stacks of pet tools.

If crashing is related to the number of players around this makes sense, but I've also heard crashing may have more to do with the limited ability of the RoM client to handle the multiple-"layers" used to build the 3-main-cities. The obvious example is that I crash most often when on the main level of Dalanis while passing directly over the Dungeons of Dalanis.

If this is true then the Pet Hunters in the 3-main-cities should all be moved out of the cities, BUT within a 30-second walk of the main entrance to each city. Close, but not too close, to a Snoop-transport (another crash site, especially in Varanas).

In the REAL world (don't flame me for mentioning the real-world in context with RoM), vendors set up shop where people-traffic (potential-customers) is heaviest. A commercially-smart family (like the Pet Hunters who hold a monopoly) would increase their business profit by setting up shop in ALL the locations mentioned in this thread.

Also, I suggest that the "next generation" of Pet Hunters, who just graduated high school/college would be DAUGHTERS of the original 5-Pet-Hunters, who decide to follow in daddy's footsteps, but do him one better, breaking-open one of the last male-dominated professions :)
