The game isn't dying. The cash shop is. Slight difference between the two. :)
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

When I started playing the game, the most popular topic was "Rift is coming out, ROM is dead". And ever since that, it has been a constant, and constantly amusing theme. The only theme that rivals it for sheer stupidity is "dont release new content, just fix the existing stuff" one.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

I know at least 15 long time players that have quit, and a dozen others who are seriously thinking of quitting.

Even going around the zones in game at various times of the day or night, you can see it quickly becoming depopulated.

The party's over.

The only time i see any players online is siege time, then they log off right afterwards. Nobody is buying diamonds, you cant sell anything because nobody has gold, and theres absolutely nothing to do except run the same instances 8696348764353 times, it gets old quick.

I find that to be quite untrue on Artemis, atleast in terms of "nobody has gold" and "nobody is buying diamonds" unless you mean from Frogster, if you do, yeah seems that way, I'm waiting for a half decent sale myself.

But, no one is selling diamonds because of the price increase, or atleast only a few people are selling diamonds, I sold like 200 today myself, but the economy is working, I don't know where you got that the economy ever stopped working.

Well you must be the first diamond seller on artemis in weeks, ive been trying to buy them forever, if thats not a sign that the economy isnt working, i dont know what is.

The economy needs diamond sellers to work, and those have nearly become extinct.

The problem is no diamond sales, ebi sold some too lol, but surveys are the best way to grab some dias during the downtime when there are none of these sales.

Frogster can have my time doing surveys but they're not gonna get my money unless there's some actual sales up.

No diamond sales are not the only problem, but theres also been a lack of players to even buy diamonds in the first place. More and more quit every day, i hate to watch this game die, it couldve been so much better.

RoM does not survive by keeping long-time players, but by recruiting new ones. There is a problem with this strategy, because there are a limited number of people who will come into this type of game. Eventually it must fail. However, people have been doomsaying for a very long time. Before the old forums were deleted, I searched and found posts as far back as Chapter 1 claiming that RoM was dying.

A few explanations for a perceived decrease in players this time:
1) Several major titles are approaching release date. In fact, one by a major developer was released a few days ago.
2) We're right at the end of the school year, and many students are in the midst of finals/graduations/enrolling in remedial summer classes/etc.
3) New chapter around the corner. This is the leading cause, IMO. Not many people want to work too hard or spend too much on their character when the future is uncertain.

Watch as see what happens as we get into summer, and especially when Chapter 5 is released.

Yes I sold some diamonds, at a 100k per, entrepreneurs gotta make a bit of gold somehow. I wouldn't say the game is dying. I will say frogster is pulling a power trip and saying "Chapter 5 is coming, these little addicts will pay anything, milk them for all they got!"

Well its back firing and for the first time Im seeing a community collectively saying "Put the brakes on frogster, we're going to be treated better then that"

I'm proud the players have stopped buying diamonds, like I said in another post none of you really needs a CS item, but Frogster desperately needs money to pay the bills. We have the upper hand so we need to stop short changing ourselves. Will it die? Sure if FEU takes the position that they can be greedy and no one will leave.

I do not feel that the game is dying. Some people have gone to try the new games out and others are waiting for the next chapter. It goes in stages like this all the time.

The game isn't dying and it certainly isn't because no one is selling dias. People are not buying and selling because dias are too cheap and gear is too expensive.

Out of principle, I won't "sell dias", which is basically "gifting for gold". The reason is, it's just not worth it. Cash shop items are much more expensive now, and AH prices are too high. I would have to "gift" too many dias to get the amount of gold I need. Why should I sell dias at the measly rate of 30k per when the game economy is still in shambles? I'd rather spend the dias on myself since it costs too much to sell them for generating gold to buy overpriced AH items.

Also, the truth is I have also stopped buying as many dias as I used to because the Gift Shop items and sales have generally sucked for the last several month. I only buy what I need now and avoid gashas (aka "Gotcha's") like the plague.

I used to buy dias because it was convenient and it supported the game, but ever since the price gouging started, I have really cut back on my diamond purchases. I would like to support the game more, but I need a better incentives to spend my hard earned cash.

That said, the game still seems active to me. My guild has grown steadily in size and siege sign-ups are still full. I'm still having fun - just not spending as much gold and buying as many dias as before.

+1 for the ability to see the truth. AH prices are still way too high. Gear is becoming scarce due to new games coming out and players are trying them out. Plus with new content coming out soon I expect what is currently the best gear will become old news for new gear. Why buy something that will be useless and not worth upgrading when new gear is just around the corner??

Aloha,

as stated many times before, dying is a never-endind process. You may not see the results all the time. But stay assured we in collaboration with Runewaker work indefatigably on this topic. With the coming Chapter V you will see great progresses on this process. In the meantime we encourage you to visit our shop and experience our new offers to alleviate the waiting time for the end.

Greetings and Happy Dying!

I would like to add this also: With the new content coming out this soon after another major patch it has created a problem. "Endgamers are expecting the new gear to be highly sought after. I predict that will not be the case if all of us who cannot afford the current gear, get together and find a way to get gear ourselves. Common guys if you dont try something and wait for someone to do the work for you, you are missing out on some great experiences. Not everyone wants stuff handed to them on a golden platter.

No, the game is no dying, at least not by the numbers I have ^^

As this is another doomsday thread and users already disagreed I close this down. Take part in the great community this game has and enjoy it :)
